One of the wackest dunks I've ever seen. Especially when Guy Dupuy through down this monster in the same year....

That was a better dunk for sure, but would have been a lot better if the car had a top.

That dunk would have been sick even without the car altogether. He jumped in the air, grabbed the ball with one hand, then put it through his legs. Oh yeah... and he jumped over the car. That's 3 tricks in 1 compared to Blake's half a trick.

I agree, I've seen better dunks from amatures on the Teamflightbrothers

Its a business. Griffin is the most exciting player in the league. The NBA will milk this for everything its worth. Crowned the slam dunk champ hours before the contest took place. ROY... All Star game ahead of better players...

You quoted my post before I edited it. I meant to say that dunk (the trick including the car) was for sure better than Howards, but I think the guys dunk would have been even more amazing if the car had a top. Even without the top, still beats Griffin's dunk by a lot.

Overrated dunk sure, but I hope that dunk contest isn't gonna be an excuse, or the fuel to call Griffin overrated as player. I watched him a lot and he truly seems like he could be the most dominant player in the league. He doesn't just have skill, he's a hustler and has heart.

I Agree too. Team Flight Brothers have dunks that are unreal. The only contestant that had Team flight brothers types of dunks was Demar Derozan. He had Justin "JUST FLY" Darlington helping him dunk. Demar derozans East Bay Funk was not only amazing, but extremly difficult. His showstopper, was no doubt the best dunk of the night. Mcgees Two ball dunk was impressive, but after 10 trys, it didnt look as Great. Demar derozan one handed Reverse dunk was just unreal. Its a shame the judges werent consistant with Judging.

One may ask, How were they not consistant?
Demar Derozan dunked first, and it took him 4 trys to complete a dunk. The commentaters were saying comments about missing and stuff that were negetive, yet when Mcgee and Griffen missed 10+ they didnt say anything..

Blake Griffen took 7 attemps to dunk for his second dunk. It was Pretty much like demar derozans dunk, except Griffen did a windmil type thing, while demar did a more difficult dunk by going through his legs and dunking it with less attemps. Yet, Griffen recieved a 46 and demar recieved a 44. The reality is, Blake Griffen won the dunk contest before it started.

No one can really compare to Serge Ibka. He dunked from the free throw line, and only recieved a 45. Yet griffens second dunk earned him a 46. It was clearly a fixed event. Julius Irving couldnt even dunk from the free throw line and still got a 50. Makes no sense whatsoever.

I think Griffen didnt deserve it, but Stern made sure he did.

Did anyone notice that the commercial is in slow motion, but speeds up the part where it shows Griffin would have hit the car, then resumes the commercial in slow motion afterwards?

And yeah, it sickens me that the guy who jumped over the official vehicle of the NBA would win the award.

the commercial is trying to sell a car. get over it

At least he actually jumped over the car. Blake landed on the hood. Honestly, I'm pretty sure I could have done what Blake did in my late teens. Seriously. It was that unspectacular. The hood of the car? That's barely 4 feet off the ground. I could dunk with 2 hands easily in HS and I'm only 5'-10".

"Superstars" are ruining the league. I guess the Pistons just didn't sell cars though...

well the dunk contest was rigged anyway. It was Derozens, also Ibaka from the FT line should have been a 10. Anyway, Griff didnt even jump over the high part of the car. Its basically a normal dunk with an over-sized prop.

besides the fact he took it between the legs, Its not that much more impressive. Its a convertible which mean the height difference isnt much, a couple inches at the most

Kia is an NBA sponsor, the NBA is covered by ESPN and Blake Griffin's a popular player. It's smart advertising.

And also had Griffin jumped over the car theres more risk for injury, Blake Griffin actually has a career to worry about and really nothing the gain from it. Duput really has nothing to worry about and could only gain from doing it.

No commercial irks me more.

It's not ESPN's fault though. Kia is obviously shelling out the money to hype it, and ESPN is just doing their job and taking the money. I've seen the commercial on many other channels too.

Blake didn't jump over it though. He landed on the hood. Not only that, the between the legs is dope enough. JR Rider won a dunk contest by putting it through his legs and there was no car. Also don't overlook the fact he was in the air and grabbed the ball from the guy with one hand. That is also impressive all by itself. How many people can grab the ball from the top with one hand in mid air?

um when you're the best player in the world, you're not being overhyped.

and yes, the griffin dunk was a joke. but didn't everyone already go over this back in february? the dunk contest was rigged and griffin won before it even started.

espn is making me dislike griffin when i am actually a fan of how he plays and have been a fan of his since he was in college..what can you do though?? derozan had the best dunks in the dunk contest.. i bet guys shy away from doing it now if they know its rigged and we see more lame dunks like griffins
