--------Fisher- Bryant- Artest- Gasol- Bynum---------------------Paul- Belinelli- Ariza- Landry- Okafor -

Fact: When winning Game 5, the Lakers are 22-4 all-time as they hope to close out the series Thursday at New Orleans.

Six Lakers finished in double figures with Bryant leading the way, scoring a team-high 19 points despite a sprained left ankle he injured back in Game 4. Pau Gasol had his best game in Los Angeles. After combining to shoot 4-for-19 in Games 1 and 2 and averaging a team-worst 39.5 percent from the field in the series, Gasol tallied 16 points on 6-for-12 shooting. Andrew Bynum logged his third double-double of the series with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

HOT: This was a tossup between the Lakers starting five and the play of Ariza and Belinelli. All of the Lakers starters finished in double figures and shot 50 percent or better from the field.

Ariza recorded a standout game, tying his career high in points for the playoffs. A bonus for New Orleans was that Ariza found his touch from deep. He connected on 5-for-8 from distance after shooting 20 percent (2-for-10) in the previous four contests. Belinelli also woke up from his poor play. Coming into Tuesday, he was shooting 29.7 percent from the field in the series. In Game 5, he went 8-for-14 from the field, including 3-for-5 from 3-point range.

NOT: The Hornets bench. Outside of Willie Green, who had eight points, the rest of the bench contributed seven points. The Lakers bench outscored the Hornets' 29-14.

i just dont see how ariza goes nuts again. i mean how can you just throw away a 30% shooting and become michael jordan. the trouble will be landry. for some strange reason gasol gets raped by him.

Lakers are very good at closing out playoff series on the road, and this year's team is very good on the road.

I'll take the lakers, thank you NO for playing the Lakers tough... as tough as OKC last year, hopefully you'll get as much meaningless hype next season for that accomplishment?

Tha Truth
04-28-2011, 02:22 PM
As much as I would love to see New Orleans pull out a win and force it to game 7. I think the Lakers will close out.

Spurred1
04-28-2011, 05:05 PM
Lakers will probably close it out, which is unfortunate. It would be much more interesting to see the Hornets pull off the upset.
