View Full Version : Ty Lawson, a top 5 pg in the NBA FUTURE

"Do me a favor, REMEMBER making this statement this time next year after Ty Lawson gets a full season running the offense out there in Denver. Guy is going to be a top 5 PG in the near future, and Stuckey will be nothing but a role player - hopefully elsewhere in the league."

"Derrick Rose
Chris Paul
Deron Williams
Rajon Rondo
Russell Westbrook

The rest does get a bit foggy...with Tyreke, Nash, Stephen Curry, Young Money, etc. BUT...he is going to be right up there in the discussion. One of several discussions Austin Daye will never even come close to coming up in. He's a bench player on pretty much any team in the league...and in my opinion, always will "

I didn't write this, but the dude thinks lawson is gonna be better than guys like wall, harris, conley, curry, etc. and of course there's gonna be future all star pgs coming out of the drafts.

Do you see him as a top 5 pg as this guy?

Ty is a beast... Don't know if he'll be better then any of those guys you mentiond.

No chance he is a top 5 PG he is not even going to be top 10

1.Deron Williams
2.Derrick Rose
3.Chris Paul
4.Russell Westbrook
5.Rajon Rondo
5.John Wall
6.Stephen Curry
7.Tony Parker
8.Mike Conley
9.Jrue Holiday
10.probably Kyrie Irving

Um... No. Ty is a great player, but there's no way he's ever top 5.

CP3
D-Will
Rose
Westbrook
Rondo

They will all always be better than Ty. And that's not even factoring in Curry, Wall, Holiday, etc.

No he won't. I rather have: CP3, Deron Williams, Rondo, Westbrook, Wall, Curry, Rose... maybe top 10, but most likely top 15.

Don't see it at all. He'll need to make a big leap next season to even be considered around those guys. And I do like Ty.

Don't forget Jrue Holiday. He is arguably as good as Ty is now and at 20 y/o he is FOUR YEARS YOUNGER.

He has been the Sixers best player against the heat and has hit clutch shot after clutch shot.

People don't realize how talented and poised he is until you play against him, otherwise Holiday's name is never mentioned as a rising PG prospect.

Ty's got a lot of competition and I don't see him being better than a healthy Reke or Steph Curry either. His size will also be an issue going forward, he'll never be that defensive stopper that you need. He's strong for a little guy, but he's still a very little guy.

Don't get me wrong, the kid is sick, it's just I don't see that top 5 potential in him, especially with such a deep PG class.

He'll be solid, probably near all-star player. I would say Jameer Nelson minus all the injuries.

I think he has a shot. I eventually see him surpassing Rondo after the Big 3 dissipate so if he can continue to grow, be as efficient offensively and lead his team, I can see it happening.

lol Jennings don't even get mention anymore

I mean kyrie Irving hasn't even played in the NBA or most of college career and people already have him top 10

I've jumped off the Jennings bandwagon.

He was on my fantasy team.

3-15 fg, 1-7 3pt games every other night is going to make me hate you.

No. Ty is an excellent player for his size, but he doenst even scratch the surface of guys mentioned such as williams, rose, westbrook, wall, etc.

I won't do it but you could even make the argument he is not the best pg on the team. Many thought felton was better in NY than Lawson is now

I really don't see how anyone could feasibly see Lawson in the Top 5 PG's. He's an exciting young talent, but how can he compare with Rose, Westbrook, Rondo, Paul and Williams?

As others mentioned, you then have players like Curry, Wall, Holiday, Evans all emerging in this league as well. Then players upcoming in Rubio, Irving, Knight, Walker.

In addition, Nash, Billups, Kidd and Parker are still playing good basketball too.

Eventually he'll surpass the veterans, but to stay ahead of all other emerging PG's AND overtaking one of the Top 5 young PG's in the league is quite a lofty prediction.

IDK how you have Kyrie Irving above Ty. Soo judging off that list... Ty will be top 10 he's better then MC and #10 who isn't even an NBA player yet.

Ty Lawson makes Rose look like Jennings.

Top 5 easily in Lawson's grasp.

i don't think he'll ever be a complete stat stuffer like those top PG's, but i thing he can be a solid 14-16 ppg, 6-8 apg guy, and be a solid floor general like Billups.

I like him. But I don't see top 5. I see top 10 as questionable, w/ top 15 being likely. Still a very good player though.

One is borderline, the other is laughable.

I think Ty will end up in the 5-10 range. If he can develop a more reliable jumper and create his own shot, he'll have a skillset similar to CP3, although I expect slightly less production than Paul. He has been good this year in only his 2nd season.

I'm surprised to see no one has mentioned Rubio. Thought by now someone would have called his name. There has also been no mentioned of Devin Harris, Kyle Lowry and Darren Collison.

As far as the topic I'd say in the future he'd be borderline top 10 and certainly top 15.

The league is filled of quality young PGs. Ty will have a hard time cracking the top 10 much less the top 5.

I didn't say he is top 5. I was just mentioning players who have been and could be better than Ty.

He hasn't been 100% in over two years. When he was he was the fastest player in the game (Guinness World Record for "fastest man with a basketball," running the length of the court in 3.9 seconds) and was a very talented scorer.

As he has gotten older he has learned to become a much better facilitator and is a quality starting PG. A 100% healthy Devin Harris could realistically get you 18 and 6 every night.

He is far from overrated right now he is under-appreciated.

There is way to many pg's to even know if he'll ever be a top 5 or top 10 pg on this league but i love his game

What?
04-27-2011, 09:31 PM
I doubt he ever gets better then CP3, Dwill, Rondo, Rose, Westbrook only one I can see him potentially passing is Rondo if he remains stagnant, and CP3 if his knees give out. But even then there would be a load of competition and I doubt he'd manage to distinguish himself.

I think he'll be up there, he just needs to work on his midrange and he'll be dangerous.

It is a little early for this in my mind. There is 5 young PG's that dominate the position already so I am not sure where Lawson fits. With Paul, Williams, Rondo, Ros and Westbrook. I don't see who Lawson surpasses at this point. Lawson is a great player and I love his game but I am not sure he will reach that top 5 because of the players he would have to surpass in front of him. Add in guys like John Wall, Brandon Jennings etc and it gets even more complicated.

top 10 right now in no particular order
cp3
rose
westbrook
rondo
nash
deron
parker
curry
wall/billups/kidd/lowry/jrue

westbrook,rose,cp3,rondo,deron or the majority of them will probably still be in the top 5 of PGs in the next 5 years so i dont see ty lawson being top 5.

I doubt it. Ty is probably the fastest player in the league, once his midrange develops he could easily be top 10. Kyrie isn't even in the L yet, relax!

but idk if he can be a top 5 pg, maybe top 8?
