Did the Spurs going for a tie of the best record on the last day of the season backfire on them?

This was the game that Manu got hurt in and then he in turn missed game 1 of the series vs the Grizzlies.

Meh, Manu would have found a way to get hurt riding the bench that game.

You can't blame Manu getting hurt on that strategy. Its just a fluke. Guys play thousands of minutes per season, theres no reason to expect an injury in one game.

It's cause Manu ate too much tuna on the last day.

It definitly hurt the spurs chances against the grizz, as manu is thier most gifted scorer...but i think the combo of tony allen and shane battier would keep a healthy manu in check as well

This.

If this happened in the middle of the season, it wouldn't be such a big deal then.

I feel it did b/c now they are feeling the wrath of the Grizz. I mean they didn't know that Manu was gunna get hurt but if the Spurs had clinched already who knows what this series' outcome is with a healthy 100% Manu.

No.
Its an added problem to getting caught up in the hype of being in first place for all season.
They tried too hard for the whole season not taking onm account their age and mileage.
Now they are worn out.
Its strange because Pops used to make exactly teh oposite, sleep trough reg season to then reach playoffs 100%

I dont think it mattered that much if u ask me. U can say the same thing for the Grizzlies. They are without Rudy Gay who is their most gifted scorer

nope.

Marc
COnley
Mayo
Zach

all of them are more efficient with their scoring than Gay.
He is just a "volume shooter" that never sees the passing lines

Injuries are part of the game. Rudy Gay is out, so it is what it is.

I think what hurt the Spurs more is that Memphis didn't want to see the Lakers so they goofed off that last game on purpose to get the 8th spot.
