View Full Version : Conference MVP's

I think Derrick Rose deserves the MVP, but alot of people on here think he doesn't deserve it. So do you guys think conference MVP's would make your anger towards Rose for getting MVP ( not yet, but he's getting it) die down? Do you think this would be a good idea? If so, who would be your conference MVP's? Mine would be Derrick Rose & Dirk Nowitzki.

No hes definitely in the convo for league MVP. Its just i have Dwight ahead of him cuz Dwight just means so much more to his team. Bulls can definitely win without Rose because they have an amazing coach with great defensive principles. ORL would be horrible without Dwight

This Pacers series alone shows how important he is to Chicago. They all revolve around him.

Durant and Howard.

Sounds good. There could be a case made for CP3 and Dirk too. Of course, this all depends on what the MVP is defined as because of course right now, it's not really the "most valuable player"; instead its the best player on a top 3 team. And of course, this has always been the case. So using that criteria, that'd eliminated CP3 for Western Conference MVP. I think its a toss up between Dirk and Durant in that case.

And of course, if we're using the same criteria in the East, that eliminates Howard. That means Rose or Lebron.

However, since I choose to take the award for its actual name, I'd go CP3 and Howard.

Coming from the dude who thinks RW is better than Derrick Rose........... still.

I know that doesn't have much to do with anything. Except in the hating factor.

D-Rose deserves the award. Dwight does too, but I think with all of the factors(top seed, team improvement, etc.) D-Rose will win it.

What I wanna know is why the **** people are bringing playoff stats to the NBA Regular season MVP....
There is a MVP of the playoffs award that is given to the top performer on the Championship team......

Rose and WB are closer in comparison than Rose is to any Top 5 player (LBJ, D12, Kobe, Wade & KD/CP3)

People like to claim Rose is the best PG in the league, well then why don't we look at both players in the playoffs:

Rose - PPG 28.3 RPG 5.3 APG 6.0 SPG 2.8 TPG 4.2 FG% 0.352 3P% 0.172 FT% 0.868

CP3 - PPG 25.5 RPG 7.0 APG 11.5 SPG 2.0 TPG 3.2 FG% 0.571 3P% 0.500 FT% 0.775

CP3 bests Rose across the board and has put his team in great position (2-2) vs the defending champs (Lakeshow), while Rose has struggled all series against a lesser defense and yet his team is leading 3-1... Even a Bulls fan will say CP3 is better by looking at those numbers.

We all know Rose will win it, we just don't believe he is deserving and the series against the Pacers proves it. Rose has been struggling all series long and hasn't even shot a respectable percentage from the floor (35%), yet his team is up 3-1. Rose is responsible for most of the offense which has been garbage, it is their defense that is winning them this series and which has been responsible for their regular season success also.

No - Noah, Deng & Boozer would all be the Magic's 2nd best player, your bench is the league's top defensive lineup for any 5 guys and your rookie coach is head-and-shoulders better than Stan ever has been.

Why don't we show you the comparison of the 4 guys who've taken the most shots in the playoffs on each team:

Bulls BIG 4 (without Rose) Combined - 50.5PPG on 42.2FG% & 51.9THR%
Deng - 17.3PPG on 39.0FG% & 35.3THR%
Boozer - 12.0PPG on 37.5FG%
Noah - 11.5PPG on 49.3FG%
Korver - 9.8PPG on 56.0FG% & 80.0THR%
DERRICK ROSE - 28.3PPG on 35.2FG% & 17.2THR% (both percentages well below season avgs)

Magic BIG 4 (without Dwight) Combined - 34PPG on 28.9FG% & 18.3THR%
Nelson - 14.8PPG on 35.5FG% & 23.8THR%
Hedo - 7.8PPG on 22.9FG% & 13.0THR%
JRich - 8.7PPG on 30.0FG% & 26.7THR%
Redick - 5.0PPG on 23.1FG% & 8.3THR%
DWIGHT HOWARD - 32.3PPG on 66.7FG% & 68.2FT% (both almost 10% higher than his season avg)

Right who has more help again? Btw Arenas has been productive/effective in just one game (Game 4) and just one game prior (vs Spurs) all season long.

PS: Season standings don't mean anything, just ask Boston, San Antonio, LA, etc...

CONF TEAM W L PCT 10 W 10 L 10 PCT
1
Miami Heat 61 21 .744 47 35 .573
Meet the Miami Globetrotters -- with the rest of the East playing the part of the Washington Generals. Our panel says the Super Friends should run circles around the rest of the conference, except perhaps for Orlando. Then again, Boston eliminated both D-Wade and King James a year ago, so that's why they play the postseason

2
Orlando Magic 56 26 .683 59 23 .720
The Magic stumbled vs. the Celtics in the East finals, but this is much the same team that won five series the past two postseasons. Orlando might have some magical maneuvers left, perhaps shipping out Vince Carter and/or finding a way to get Chris Paul. Until then, given Miami's summer, Orlando reverts to dangerous sleeper status.

3
Boston Celtics 51 31 .622 50 32 .610
The C's showed the regular season means nothing to them, beating the Cavs and Magic despite starting on the road, and almost doing the same to the Lakers. So it matters little that Boston is projected to win "only" 51 games, as long as it can get KG, Perk and the other Men in Green healthy for April, May and June.

4
Chicago Bulls 50 32 .610 41 41 .500
The East's second tier welcomes a new member: Chicago. The Bulls swung and missed on LeBron, D-Wade and CB4, but they did get Carlos Boozer, a deeper bench and a new coach, Tom Thibodeau. That and the sharp ascent of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah mean that Chicago's sellout crowds finally have something to see.
