View Full Version : Best Home crowds

What teams have the best home crowds? I'd say the top three in some order would have to be New York, Portland and Golden State. When the Knicks are winning I don't think there's a better crowd in basketball than theirs, but Portland fans bring it EVERY night, so do Warriors fans. After that I'd say the next group would be Chicago, Boston, Utah and (when the Kings are winning) Sacramento. This is obviously subjective, but that would be the top of my list.

Regular season the Hawks are near the bottom but come playoff time they're near the top. Bandwagon fans and such.

On tv it doesn't sound like the UC gets too crazy but maybe it's the audio feed. Gotta be there to really have an opinion on it.

Raptors, even when their team is crap and 15-67, their arena is almost always at full capacity and have you heard their boos? Incredible.

I think OKC has had the best playoff environment thus far

The Garden was bumpin, but that didn't last long last night.

Utah's is generally really loud too.

Best, quality wise? New York is a bunch of fair-weathered fans. We've already seen that from them cheering FOR Boston. However, they make a lot of noise when they're winning. *Cough.*

Warriors fans are the loudest. In one of our rare playoff runs we showed the NBA and David Stern how much we love our team.

LOL, are you kidding? I've been going to Knick games for years and I was there last night and I honestly didn't even hear any Boston chants so they either must have been in the last minute or so after the majority of Knick fans left being that it was a blowout, or a bunch of fans scattered right around the audio feed. I expected more Boston fans to be in attendance being that the two cities are pretty close and alot of transplants in both cities. There weren't many at all

And the Garden sells out and gets crazy when the Knicks are in the lottery. Fair weathered fans? We'll see what your arena (don't even know what its freakin called) in Orlando is like when Dwight leaves

New York, Chicago, Philly, Boston, Golden State (I suppose Oakland technically) and I think Dallas, Portland, and Toronto all seem to be good and loyal fans as well.

Personally I believe New York, Chicago, Philly, and Boston generally have the best and worst of fans so in any best they should be mentioned in any sport.

OKC & Sacramento IMO. Smaller markets who absolutely love their teams. Combined with them not having any other pro teams- all their love are for those franchises...

I lived in Sac for a month and they love their Kings. Have family in OKC and know that they are nuts about the Thunder too- as they were for the Hornets when they were there.

OKC, Golden State, Utah really bring the noise. NY, CHI, BOS is up there too.

But one thing that the Knicks have is a home crowd in other arenas. Seriously, Atlanta is just another home game for the Knicks. Our fans there are FAR LOUDER than the ATL fans. And Miami has a NY home crowd as well.

New York fans will give the "MVP" chant to players on the other team. I wouldn't call that being a good fan. Toronto is one of the best. We will boo you for being good, or for being a former Raps player.

So does home court advantage really mean anything? The Lakers have 1 of the worst home crowds according to most of you , yet they seem to win every year. They also go into these supposed hostile environments and beat these teams that you are referring to. So I guess talent beats some crazy maniac who screams loud

DaBear

The Bulls have the #1 attendance and #1 home record. You have to be there to see why.

ummmm a lot of ppl are saying NY. Obviously home crowd doesn't mean too much. If it's between 2 nearly equal teams, you's probably (maybe?) give the edge to the home team. The Lakers have been winning because they have a great team. Crowd means very little in the playoffs because every stadium is packed, therefore loud, regardless.

Chicago: Mostly remnants of Jordan lovers

Lakers: Most annoying, they act like they're in a high class restaurant

Knicks: They always look disappointed in the beginning of every game and surprised when they win

Celtics: Old school feel to the environment

OKC: Hey, that's the only show in town

Utah: They make me think of Mormons

Portland: Always loyal, even when they had Rasheed.

And as Portland Fans, well, we dont have anything better to do than watch the Blazers.

We just got the Timbers, a MLS team. The MLS is not my cup of tea though.

I'm sure Spurs fans remember that ridiculous finish at the Rose Garden a short while ago, and that game shows just how loud the Rose Garden can get. I was there, and I've only felt that type of energy at a sporting event when I'm at Autzen Stadium on Saturdays. We may not have the best home crowd, but we know how to rock an arena pretty good.

One thing I would like to add concerning OKC is the dilemma of them not having a team for very long. Yes, their crowd is great right now, but what happens when they aren't that strong for many years? Does the fan support stick around, or does it dissipate? People forget that the Charlotte Hornets had incredible fan support for a while and then they struggled near the end causing a move. Right now, yes I agree they have a very good homecourt, but I'm not sure they should be stacked up against teams with a longer legacy of tough home crowds.

I really enjoy watching Thunder games that crowd is like a college crowd it is great.

Portland was crazy when we played them and Tor had a good crowd and it was like they won the championship when they beat the Bulls this year.

all the home courts are good when the people actually show up, but the most consistent and best fan base has got to be portland. no matter what they create an atmosphere that makes you nervous going into their building trying to get a win.
