View Full Version : First Round Match-Up: Heat V 76ers

LBJ, Wade and Bosh will be the three best players on the court. And Doug Collins will be the best coach on the side lines, and will be coaching the deeper team.

Much of what happens for Miami will depend what thye can get out of Haslem, and as things look now, they will get nothing out of him because he is still out indefinetly. There is not doubting the fact that Miami has bte better players, but Philly also has the better center and point guard rotation. Lou Williams will be sorely missed, but Jrue Holiday, though Miami's late season addition of Bibby does make things more interesting than they would have otherwise been. Miami has the better three point shooters, and more depth in rebounding, but Philly has more depth period (though I think they would have been better had they kept Dalembert). Brand has been having his best season since joing the 76ers, turner is a great young talent, and AI 2.0 is no slouch on either end. throw in spieghts, Young, Meels, HAwes Nocinono and Kaponoa (are they even playing that guy?) and Philly has a TEAM.

There is a part of me that wants to pick Philly in this series, and I honestly think they can pull it off, but that doesnt mean I think they WILL pull it off. They will be battling officials, and two of the greatest basketball players on the planet. If Spo can keep his cool, Miami should be able to send Philly packing inside 6 games. But i'm going to give some respect to Doug Collins and say Miami will need all seven games to win this series.

I'm a die hard Sixers fan, but I'll be honest...

If you had asked me about three weeks ago, or if this playoff match up had started three weeks ago, I would have been much more confident to pick the upset here. The Sixers will still on a roll, and Miami hadn't reached this peak yet. Now, the Sixers have cooled down considerably, Iggy/Brand/Lou are all injured, and Miami is starting to tap into their scary potential. The Sixers have been pretty underrated all season, and they are a team that none of the big boys in the East were dying to play in the first round, but at this point I think Miami won't have too big of a problem getting through us.

Collins is going to do a hell of a job in this series. I think we can push it to 6 games, but we will have to execute every aspect of our game plan to perfection to have a chance. Wade and Lebron are too tough to stop, so we'll have to do our best to at least shut down Bosh, and then pray for some bad games from either Wade or Bron at some points. It will be a fun series, the Sixers have always played great teams pretty well, it's just a matter of closing out and playing consistently for 4 quarters. We'll see. I can't wait! Just wish we could have gotten the Celtics in the first round. At this point, they would have been much easier to take down, and I honestly think the Knicks can take them out.

The fan in me says the Sixers will pull the stunning upset. The fan in me and whats in my heart says this young team will show everyone that does not believe in them that its no fluke they overcame a horrendous start. The fan in me says young players and all players heart is revealed in the playoffs and legacies are born.

But the objective basketball fan says the Heat in 6 is the most likely scenario.

You are going to have to... None of these games will be close in crunch time. Take that to the bank. HEAT in a very clean sweep.

The HEAT were bored at times this year, but when they are motivated they DESTROY teams. The playoffs are here. This is why they all came together. Goodnight Sixers.

Heat in 6. As pressure increases, the bench minutes decrease. Wade, LeBron and Bosh will be on the floor for most of the game. I don't see the Sixers overcoming that for an entire series. Of course, feel free to prove me wrong. That's what it's all about!

God I have never wanted one of my teams to win a playoff matchup more. The Sixers clearly dont have the firepower the Heat have but they have the superior coach and bench. When I think back to Lebron D Wade and Bosh celebrating like they had won something before the season starts it pisses me off. The way the Heat "fans" are talking on this board saying clean sweep and you won't even know how we close out games b/c they wont be close enough just adds fuel to my fire. We all know Heat fans are a joke.... there are probaly 100 real fans. I just hope you guys know where the arena is and show up before the end of the 1st quarter.

I think 76ers is the easiest team for Heat of other 7. Just because Heat matches up well with 76ers, they can't exploit Heat weaknesses because they don't have a star point guard or center.
Great teamplay team with deep bench, but that wouldn't be enough to stop Heat.

if lou williams and iggy are banged up it's going to be a sweep, i voted for 5, but after thinking about it philly doesn't have a chance. the sixers strength is their athleticism but compared to miami they ain't ****. andre iguodala is an athletic freak but lebron makes him look average. even if philly has better coaching and a better bench(i personally don't think they have either), it's not by much while the heats starters are better than the sixers starters by miles

dude, i have season tickets, and your excuse is pure bs. these people arent late because they are coming from other things, they are coming late because they arent great fans. we have a very passionate fan base, but only when the games are huge. we will have one of the top atmospheres in the playoffs because those are the types of fans we have, but those "things to do" excuses are complete and utter bs.

totally agree with this.

you can't defend fans not showing up to your games. I'll gladly admit that sixers fans didn't start showing up until we started winning again.

but when it comes to the point where your TEAM has to make PSA to the fans to come to the freakin games on time, that's no good. And frankly doesn't make any sense especially when you have 2 of the top 5 players in the NBA. I've been to miami, awesome city, but u can't deny the facts.

It is pretty pathetic. But I'm positive that that'll change now. MIA is more of a big event type city, and the playoffs down here are huge, especially when the team is this good.

enough with thte PSA hate. it wasnt a "PSA" anyway. it was like 1 commercial trying to create an atmosphere from beginning to end in the arena.

the difference is that miami fans know what to do when it really counts. when the playoffs roll around or the big games come around, everyone is there on time. but when the big games roll aorund there is no atmosphere better.

Im a big fan of the style of ball the Sixers play, they scrappy young, relentless, and have played us very well this year. The question now is simple, can the Sixers handle Wade and Bron playing a more physical brand of basketball for 42 minutes? My honest opinion is they cant. They have a young deep team but depth only takes you so far and they have a need for top end talent to counteract our fellas.

Whaaaaat?

I think the 76ers could steal a game in this series but I think that is about it. I don't see anyone on the 76ers being able to stay with Wade while Iggy gets the test of guarding Lebron. I do think however that Lou Williams could be a big X factor in this series if he gets going early as he can be a very dynamic scorer.

c' mon now It's Lebron. Lebron usually sweeps teams in the playoff until they meet the celtics.lol

I don't know about the Celtics this year. No Perkins. Shaq questionable. And I've heard Rondo may have Plantar Fasciitus. But then there's the Bulls, and the Lakers to contend with.

Erik Spoelstra said Udonis Haslem practiced today. "He's been building up to this" Spoelstra said, but soreness expected to keep him out.

as in out of the game...UD's back. I doubt he gets any time in this series because they dont need him, but he will be there for boston, then chicago, then LA.

UH OH! :speechless: God forbid he actually contributes :laugh2: then we'll be very scary. Still, I want him as healthy as possible this year, he shouldn't rush it. At least I know he'll be back by round 2 assuming we get there.

dude, i have season tickets, and your excuse is pure bs. these people arent late because they are coming from other things, they are coming late because they arent great fans. we have a very passionate fan base, but only when the games are huge. we will have one of the top atmospheres in the playoffs because those are the types of fans we have, but those "things to do" excuses are complete and utter bs.

My excuse isn't bs, maybe because you don't have better things to do then you'll go to HEAT games but before i put down 50+ bucks (Including my GF) on a nosebleed section of a HEAT game i rather waste it on something else. I'm a die hard HEAT fan but I'm just a college student that works as a lifeguard part time. And i enjoy myself in doing other things then just going to HEAT games all the time. Pretty sure a lot of people down here in Miami are like that.
