Miami and Philly
Best matchups in the East 1st round

I honestly think Orlando/Atlanta will be pretty competitive too...only Chicago's series I think will be really boring.

Chicago should win in 5, maybe 6. I do think Indy steals at least game 3 or 4.

Miami should win in 6. I really like Philly, and their balance on both ends, but I think Miami will really play too hard to be beaten by them.

Boston/NYK will be the best series. I still think Boston wins this, but I'm not certain. Classic great defense/bad offense vs. great offense/bad defense. Should be great.

Orlando hasn't been very consistent this year, and ATL actually leads the regular season battle. We did sweep them last year. I think we'll win, but it won't be nearly as easy as last year.

Sixers should be a lot easier, no doubt. But my dream scenario would have been to knock out the 3 teams I hate the most: Knicks, Celtics, Bulls, and then beat the Mavs in the finals again so they can once again cry about poor officiating and how David Stern has it out for them.

No they can't Hawks have the tiebreaker.

NBA.com says the tie-braker goes head-to-head (2-2) and then division record (ATL 9-6, NYK 10-5) though if what you say is correct it must only be for two teams in the same division.

Well NY's last two games are against Chicago and Boston while ATL is facing Charlotte, so them winning both and the Hawks losing was a long shot anyway.

I would have put Orlando/Atlanta but I don't see that series being much fun to watch. I still think Orlando will make the 2nd round. I don't see a team with Dwight losing in the first.

This playoff series will be great this year though. Even the Indy and Chicago games may be good. It's nice too see NY/Philly/Chicago back in the playoffs with good chances to advance.

Chicago over Indiana 4-0
Miami over Philidelphia 4-1
Boston over New York 4-3
Orlando over Atlanta 4-1

Chicago is wayyyyyy too much for Indiana, do I really need to explain it any more than that?

Just because I have Heat winning in 5 doesnt mean the Heat are going to blow them out. I do think the Heat will win in 5, but alot of the games will be close (within 10 points).

I think the C's are superior than the Knicks, but they are not the same as they used to be. The Knicks are a threat now and will give the C's trouble, I think Melo and Amare will have some big games in this series. But in the end, the Celtics are just too deep and too experieced for a Knicks team that doesnt play defense.

Atlanta is really not that good and it was stupid of them to fire Woodson (they got better every year for like 6 years under him). I do think they will 1 in Atlanta, but this series wont be close. Howard will destroy them inside and Orlando's shooting will be too much.

Well, we screwed ourselves on this one, we have no shot against Miami.

If we could have played the Celtics, we actually had a legit chance at an upset. That series would have hands down went 6 or 7 games, this one with the Heat will only go 5 unfortunately.

I'd love for this to be the case, but this Heat team has a nasty habit of falling asleep once they've built large leads against inferior opponents. I wouldn't be surprised to see Philly take a game, with a couple of their losses decided by 10 or less.

It has nothing to do with Lou Williams, this just isn't a good matchup for us. And to say that the Sixers are "not good" is laughable, they're an up and coming team that plays great defense and are a big man away from contending. Like I said, if we had Boston we would actually have a legit shot at an upset.

As far as Philly vs Mia goes...imo that will go 5 games at the most...The problem with Philly against Mia is there best lineup is to go small with brand at the 5..and playing small ball with the Heat is playing right into their strength...

I'm watching the Chi/Ind series closely, Indy's played them tough for the most part. It isn't as easy as people are making it...

HUH? The Bulls won 3 of 4, the first game by 19, then 13 and 21. Yes the Pacers won 1 game in OT after the Bulls played back to back road games and didn't play any defense the first 3 quarters giving up 89 points in 3 quarters. The Pacers aren't gonna get 89 points in a total game come playoff, let alone a crappy effort like that. The Pacers might steal a game, but the Bulls should win this series pretty easily.

NBA.com says the tie-braker goes head-to-head (2-2) and then division record (ATL 9-6, NYK 10-5) though if what you say is correct it must only be for two teams in the same division.

Tiebreakers are broken by records vs their own conference not divisions. The Hawks are 31-20 vs the East, while the Knicks are 28-22. So the Hawks will finish with better record. Since the Hawks only have one game left, while the Knicks have 2. So best the Knicks can finish is 30-22 vs the East, while the Hawks will be 31-21 even if they lose their last game. So that's why the match ups are set with Knicks vs Celtics and Hawks vs Magic.

Really? Iggy and Brand scare you more than Amare and Melo?

I think defense, deeper team and better coaching is what scares him. It's not a two on two game of Iggy/Brand vs Amare/Melo. I don't think the 76ers will beat the Heat, but in the playoffs defense is more important then offense. Which is why most people don't think the Knicks will do very well.

Bruce Bowen, the great defensive player, just picked NYK to go to the ECF.

While I don't think the Knicks will beat the Celtics. With the way the Celtics are playing it's possible that any of the top 7 seeds could upset them right now. I know every thinks they will turn it on in the playoffs and they might. But with how badly they played the last few months, and even the past week in big games. It's hard for me to believe they can just turn it on because it's the playoffs. This team was trying pretty hard to beat the Bulls and Heat and played terrible. If they play like that, it's possible that the Knicks can beat them. Not it's not likely, but actually possible. But I wouldn't even have said it was possible a month ago.

Yeah like I think the 76ers are a better overall team. But I don't think they match up well with the Heat at all. While the Knicks might be a lesser team, there stars match up with the Heat players. So if the Heat let them get in their heads, don't play defense and try to make them basket for basket. The Knicks could have stole that series. While the 76ers might be a better overall team(due to defense and coaching), there defense isn't good enough to stop the Heats big 3 and they don't have the firepower to match up with the Heats scorers. I dunno if that makes sense, but match ups is a big factor in the playoffs. For example I think the 76ers have a better shot to upset the Celtics then Knicks do. While I thought the Knicks have a better shot to upset Heat then 76ers do.

I'm not gonna go there yet, because the Knicks don't match up well with them when you consider the defense they play(I might pick the 76ers to upset them though). But I think there has to be concern about the Celtics. They have been terrible for a while, and haven't even shown up in the big games. Yes a team like the Lakers can coast and look terrible. But in the big games they still show they are the team to beat. The Celtics have looked terrible, and then got blown out by the Bulls and Heat in the same week. It's hard to just see them turning it on and playing great basketball all of the sudden.

It's gonna come down to Rando for the Celtics. We match up well w/ Boston. Our bench is better than thier's, BOS doesn't exploit us on the boards, I don't think they can run w/ us.

I definitely think between Mia and Boston that Boston was the "easier" route to go for the 1st rd for NYK. Our most glaring problem aside from defensive intensity is getting outrebounded--luckily since the Perkins trade, Boston has the same issue.

If Boston keeps showing their age and a lack of intimidation in the paint, I'd say Knicks COULD pull it out in 6-7 games.

Realistically though, I think it'll be the Celts in 6--Rivers should rest his boys the last few games so they can come in with fresh legs for the 1st round. It should be pretty akward when The Knicks play the final game of the season Wed at Boston!

I don't understand all the excitement for the Knicks/Boston, outside of the media/name recognitions.

Boston is by far the superior team, even if they've been slouching as of late.

Goes 6 at the most.

The last 2 times Boston played NY, NY had double digit leads in the 4th quarter but they couldn't close out the games.

The only way the Knicks win is if Shaq isn't effective....I think the series is guaranteed to go 7 games and it can go either way...but I just can't see NY beating Bos in the Boston Garden for a game 7

When BOS played the NEW knicks team it was a VERY physical game, there was blood everywhere. NY had them beat and had a 10 point 4th quarter lead. It took a 13 point 5-5 4th quarter explosion from Pierce for BOS to pull it out.

But NY was a different team then, thats when they were going through all their struggles. I respect BOS but they are old and at some point their window is going to close, that could be this year. They don't have anyone down low that really scares anyone or that would exploit NY's lack of a center.

Is a 40 year old Oneal & Kristic really a huge advantage over Turiaf & SHeldon Williams if any?

Amare & Melo are better than KG & Pierce but i'll call it equal because those guys know how to win and KG plays much better defense than Amare.

Amare > or = to KG
Melo > or = to Pierce

Rondo vs CB is a toss up, clearly Rondo is the better player at this point but Billups in the playoffs has been a different animal and you don't really have to guard up close on Rondo because he can't shoot.

Ray Allen > Fields

BOS is better but NY has a shot.

Knicks bench unless you play hard transistion D like Memphis found out we dropped 40-45 pts. on them. Best D the Knicks faced all season and I've watched all season, trust me, was the Grizzlies and Sixers. I was shocked Boston didn't really effect us, we just weren't jelling, you're gonna see a way different team Gm.1. And just like KG and Pierce step it up playoff time, you're gonna see Stat/Melo/Chauncey turn it up. The X-factors for the Knicks are Douglas/Williams/Fields, this won't be easy for them.

If you're a Knicks fan this is cherry on top. We are in the playoffs, not expected to win, Boston is, we have no pressure.

the Knicks have been mediocre since their trade as well. Any reasonable NBA fan would say a .500 team upsetting the perennial EC champs is an upset.

i think the heat will beat the bulls because the heat have multiple superstars, who step it up in playoffs and have a proven track record(wade, duh, and LeBron despite the perception of him "quitting")...1st game in chicago LeBron didn't play and heat only lost by 3(i know neither did noah, but noah doesn't make 1/3 the impact as LeBron)...2nd game we lost was thanks to deng nailing a clutch 3 and bosh playing a historically bad game going 1-18(i think it was the worst in nba in last 30 yrs or so) and it's very unlikely such a disaster will happen again this post season, but even with that heat still were very much in the game...3rd game came down to that foul call on miller, even though heat had chance to win, heat should have had ball up by 1 with 16 secs...if the heat rebound better, i think the bulls will have a very hard time with miami...if joel anthony can avg 8+ rebounds, bulls lose their only real edge; rebounding
