Who has more athleticism, LeBron James or Dwight Howard?

Just curious.

LBJ imo. Dwight is taller and stronger though. Blake Griffin would be 3rd, but way far behind.

Bron beats Dwight in every aspect apart from strength.

Lebron . He's what 30lbs lighter than Dwight ? Just take a look how fast he is , damn .
How can a man who's 220lbs and 6'8'' run that fast and jump so high ? He's freaking animal.

Lebron is probably the most athletically/physically gifted player of all time. So I'll say Bron.

With all due respect to Dwight, he is a world class athlete but Lebron could be the best, at the very least one of the best, athletes in the entire world.

As everybody else has said Dwight is extremely athletic, but besides from overall strength he has nothing on LBJ in terms of athleticism. LeBron is 6'8, 250, and is the fastest forward in the league and possibly the fastest player overall. Also the fact that Lebron was an all-american in football shows his versatility.

Lebron is a once in a life time freak of nature. I don't know if anyone will ever have that kind of talent. Now as great as his talent is he's going to have to stay healthy which goes for everybody in sports.

not intending to chastise the OP but Howard vs Griffin would have been a better question. LeBron is the most athletic player in the entire NBA.

Lebron is definitely the most athletic.

I thought this quote from Bill Simmons fit well in this thread:

"If you created an Athletic Freak Scale and rated NBA players based on how violently you said "My God, that guy is a FREAK" as you watched them in person, LeBron would be a 10.0. Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin would be 9.0s. Russell Westbrook would be an 8.5. Sergeballu LaMu Sayonga Loom Walahas Jonas Hugo Ibaka would be an 8.0. Wall would be somewhere between 8.0 and 9.0. And Luke Harangody would a 0.0."

Generally I might agree, but I highly doubt there are many athletes in the world comparable to Lebron. I despise him, as a Celtics fan, but I can't think of many guys in any sports that are as freakishly athletic as him.

I agree. In terms of the NFL, however the main freak of nature I can think of is Adrian Peterson. He has speed, size, strength, quickness, the total package in terms of athleticism.

Not really comparable. What would be the argument that Dwight is a better athlete?

Both look like they were made in a lab, and Dwight IS pretty insane with his hops/size/strength, but LBJ defies a lot of what I thought a human could possess athletically. The speed/lateral quickness and hops from a guy that big and strong is not like anything we've seen before in the NBA.

Uh, people don't seem to realize that LeBron and Howard are comparable in Athleticism, with speed going to Lebron and Strength to Howard. The only difference is that Howard does it in a bigger body, which must require more athleticism to control the larger body. He requires more athleticism to jump as high as he does with all his extra weight. Nothing against Lebron, but it isn't as "NOT EVEN CLOSE" as 90% of people seem to think it is.

AntiG
04-11-2011, 01:42 AM
LeBron is probably the most physically gifted athlete I've ever seen. In terms of size combined with explosion, speed and strength, only Calvin Johnson, Vernon Davis, Mario Williams, Matt Jones and Brock Lesnar can even be spoken of in the same sentence.

What?
04-11-2011, 01:50 AM
Its not really that close Lebron is maybe the best athlete in the world his combination of speed size and athleticism you would think would be impossible. Am not even certain Lebron isn't stronger then Howard

hahahaha yea, oh. then why wouldn't lebron guard dwight?

but lebron is the most athletic person in the NBA..if he was in the NFL, he'd be the most athletic person there as well. i swear the guy could run a 4.4 40 and his height and his vertical, no one could cover him as a wide receiver. would be the most unfair thing imaginable

No its not Dwight is the strongest player in the league by far.

but ya its Lebron, he is the most physically, athletically gifted player i have ever seen with in the 4 major sports (NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL)

Forget WR. Play him at QB. He's got a cannon arm and has tremendous vision and accuracy. Get the ball in his hands as often as possible. He'd be Vince Young with better passing instincts, work ethic and the right attitude.

i doubt he'd make a good qb. the passing instincts are a little different. i'd say wide receiver because he'd just physically be impossible to cover. you could put 4 guys on him and he'd still out jump them all just for the meer fact he's 4-6 inchers taller than everyone else and having a 45+ inch vert helps a bit

Didn't LeBron play football in high scool as well. I think he was all-state and pretty decently recruited. The fact that he could even do that AND be the current best player in the NBA gives it to LeBron. To suggest otherwise it almost laughable. As for strength, where are we getting this from? I have never seen anything to indicate who is the current strongest in the NBA. And even there, I'll bet it's close.

I see the point with the fact that Howard is strong and agile for a big man, but LeBron is way over his head.

Dwight is by far the most athletic big I have ever seen, which makes him a freak of nature. I agree that Lebron is the most athletic (jumping ability, Size, speed, power, etc) dude in the NBA, but I think people are forgetting how rare it is to be 7 foot(ok, 6'11'') and be that athletic. The dunk contest that DH put on and some of the dunks he did were so insane that he is probably the only person in the NBA that could do them.
So I think its a lot closer than most people are acting like, just Lebron is faster and more agile. I can't name a player like Lebron, but I can't name a player that is like DH either.
There is not a person in the NBA that could do this dunk just like this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RbV50jyyuY
