Dorrell Wright has definitely improved the most but probably won't win it. I wasn't surprised of the play of LA or Love b/c I knew they had it in them if they given the right opportunity...

Plus Wright was on my fantasy and dude was a beast :) pickup of the year!

PrettyBoyJ

Dorrell Wright just cuz he never avg. double digit points before.. Now I look at the box scores and I see with like 30 points some games

I don't really see why LA is on the list. I guess as a makeup for the Allstar "snub". Well he will obviously win it and Love will get 2nd.

Isnt the MIP award for players who had the biggest jump statistically from the year before? It has to be Love then

If you watched LaMarcus Aldridge last season, and then fast forwarded to this season you would understand. Aldridge had a very limited offensive game beyond his step-back jumper last season, and he became a legitimate post player this season. I don't think he will win the award, but he definitely deserves consideration.

I'm a numbers guy, so sometimes I can be blinded by #'s, but I think these are solid.

LA - + 4.1 points/ + .6 rebounds/ + 0 assists/ + .006 FG%
KL - + 6.2 points/ + 4.2 rebounds/ + . 2 assists/ + .20 FG%

This is the +/- change from the 2009-2010 season to 2010-2011 season. Love has a higher increase average per game in points, rebounds, assists, and FG%. I think it has to go to Love, at least between the two.

The numbers you are using are too raw.

Dorell Wright - + 9.3 points/ + 2.0 rebounds/ + 1.6 assists/
Now it's gotta be Wright.

It's a great debate because Aldridge has carried Portland without Oden, without Roy, it doesn't matter. He's rock solid. I'd love to see him win something because of how valuable he's been to that team but there is no award for him. Unfortunately his jump from very good player to All-Star caliber player isn't nearly as impressive as Love's jump from backup (what a joke that was) rebounding forward to All-Star with top 10 PER and Win Shares.

Dorrell Wright's scoring improved more than anyone and he also developed a 3 point shot. However Kevin Love's production increased more than anyone.

I see no reason to say anything other than Love. That's without posting the advanced numbers which Love has bigger improvements than everyone else by a wide margin.

Aldridge.... better player on a better team than love

What does any of that have to do with MIP. Some (I am not included) may say Kevin Martin is a better player on a better team that Eric Gordan that doesn't mean he is a more improved player.

Tony_Starks
04-05-2011, 06:11 PM
Love will get it but Westbrook really deserves it. Loves "improvement" is really just him getting more minutes and actually being allowed to stay on the floor this year. Last year (for whatever Rhambis odd reason was) his minutes were inconsistent and he only started 22games. Now he's started every game and getting the time.

Contrast that with Westbrook who's playing the same amount of time as last year but made a vast improvement. Id give it to Russel!

wilson chandler anyone? it can't be a homer pick cause he's not even on my team anymore, but he's still killing it up in denver and was the major reason why the nuggets made the deal..

and with everyone saying rose should be it, seriously? he's most likely the MVP, why would he be the MIP? no number 1 pick will EVER be the MIP. they're drafted 1st overall for a reason.

I don't see how you can keep Roy Hibbert off this. He's become a serious center this year..

The same Roy Hibbert who started off the season at a 16 and 9.5 clip and has now regressed to a 12 and 7.5 player. The same Roy Hibbert who's FG% is 5 percentage points less than the league average for Cs. The same Roy Hibbert who may have to go for therapy to help him learn to become a true post player and less of a jump shooter.

I am sorry but if you ask me for the time Hibbert has been in the league and the opportunities that he has been given he hasn't improved in the very least. I am really fond of Hibbert he's one of my favourite players in the league but we've only seen flashes and nothing sustained from him.

Kevin Love......Kevin Love is responsible for turning the Knicks season around. After Kevin Love torched the Knicks with 39-20 Amar'e vowed to play better and lead the team to more wins. Thought it was a fluke game until the 2nd meeting ....simular numbers....we didn't have an answer for him.
