The other day me and my cousin were in an arguement on who is the best rebounder in the Nba.

He said k-love and i said dwight howard is despite his averages being slightly lower than love's.

Long story short who is the best rebounder in the league?

There will also be a poll.

It's Love, followed by Dwight.

Love is the most natural rebounder I've seen; he just has a special nack for it, and he has a great base that he's learned to use to his advantage.

You know when a guy is making Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol look like mediocre rebounds that he's gotta be pretty special. He's not putting up the highest single game rebounding numbers weve seen in 30 years on accident.

its hard for me, i havent watched many of them play BUT, from what ive watched, a TON of Love's rebounds are off his own misses, so i dunno how to praise a dude for that. but he is good at putting him in postition to get a bunch of rebounds and he hustles so he is a great rebounder, the best tho??

Just cause he doesn't know how to do anything else doesn't mean he's the best. Rodman didn't know how to do much else yet he's going into the HOF, I don't think reggie is headed there or anywhere close.

I personally believe he is the best rebounder in the NBA. His averages per 36 minutes are simply unreal.

pebloemer
04-05-2011, 12:28 PM
It's Reggie. He plays far less minutes so his per game stats won't compare. But per minute and per loose ball, it has to be him IMO. If the comparison is based on rebounding only, his inability to contribute in other areas (resulting in less court time) shouldn't affect the vote. His time played is a big enough sample size to see he is the best rebounder IMO.

A small head to head example: On Sunday Howard got 9 boards in 39 minutes. Reggie grabbed 17 boards in 32 minutes. When Reggie plays, this becomes the norm.

Exactly, not to mention that he tries to alter just about every shot within 10-12 ft of the basket. Another thing that nobody seems to mention that Dwight shoots such a high field goal percentage that he doesn't get the same amount of tip ins that someone who shoots about 15% less than him. Dwight runs the floor better than any big in the NBA, so a lot of times his teammates getting defensive rebs. Also, the total number of rebounds available is +300 for the Twolves over the Magic. Dwight's supporting cast(fellow starters) also average +1 reb over Love's supporting cast. Let's not forget that Dwight is always getting fouled when going for rebounds too, thus negating his reb he was in the process of grabbing.

If Dwight's sole purpose on defense was to rebound he would average

Rodman knew how to defend at an elite level, that on top of his rebounding is why hes in the HOF. Also compared to Evans, even Rodman had more offensive game.

Evans only literal skill is to rebound and sexually molest player

Dwight Howard.

Kevin Love is good but seriously, even though he has a special "knack", he gets at least 3 rebounds from his teammates just having no effort to get it themselves. Just ask Lebron on that play where the players didn't even try to get the rebound off the free throw.

Love's rebound rate, and rpg, is currently higher than Dwight has ever hit. I am not interested in debating its because Howard contests, and Love just waits for the rebound, blah, blah, blah, but to say Love, the leading rebounder in the NBA by quite a bit this season, is the best rebounder, is not an insult to anything or anyone.

I voted Howard because he's been consistently a top rebounder in the league the last few years. He's also fouled before he can grab rebounds before putback dunk. The reason I feel that his rebounds isn't as high as Love's is also that Love plays on such a bad team where he doesn't have to do anything spectacular except pad his rebounding and point stats. This could be a 1 year wonder. But you never know.

and that is fine, you can have that opinion. But to call it a joke is ridiculous. No matter how you reason it, Love is averaging more rebounds than Dwight ever has, and has a higher rebound rate than Dwight ever has.
