Where does everyone think Jerry Sloan will go next year?

LA Lakers replacing Phil Jackson?
Heat? Clippers? Knicks?

Whats the deal?

If the Knicks can land him, they'll definitely fix their defensive problems,it could be a big deal for NY.

I think Jerry Sloan has too much pride to go out like that... I believe he wants try one more attempt at a championship, and the Lakers will offer him a large sum of money after Phil Jackson retires... And it will be too hard for Sloan to turn down.

I think he's done. But the man deserves a ring - above any other player/coach/owner that's currently involved in pro basketball. In fact I challenge anyone that can name me someone more deserving.

The only teams that would truly give him a chance in the next year or two are: Celtics, Heat, Bulls, Lakers, Spurs, OKC, Magic - and I doubt he goes to any of those.

He would have ZERO chance with the NY.

Why does he deserve a ring? He's had like 40 years to win one and hasn't.

I don't understand your point. How does someone just "deserve" a ring? He had one of the best ALL TIME PG's and PF's at the same time and didn't win with them. He's always had teams with loads of talent and couldn't bring them to a championship level. Nobody deserves a ring, you have to EARN it.

I don't see him coming back to coach ever but I also don't see him going to the lakers if he does come back. The lakers would be best off if Brian Shaw replaces Phil and keeps the Triangle in place, if sloan comes in then the lakers better get a top tier PG.

PJ and JS have a different coaching style I don't see it working out.

Old droopy eyes himself, if he was a commentator then ratings would go up cause people would fall asleep listening to him, therefore not turning the TV off or changing the channel.

Derek Fisher and Sloan have already worked together... I think they'll still be fine with Fisher as the starting PG.

Before a lot of you get lost in your ingnorant fantasies ask yourselves "Why did Jerry Sloan retire?" He's sick of the superstar ego infested league so why then would he consider all of these hot headed teams with stars that will only clash with a guy like Jerry Sloan? Those that say money, the guy spends his free time on his farm in Illinois, why would he be obsessed with more money at his age after being employered 20+ years as a head coach of a NBA team. I don't see it happening.

I'm a long time Jazz fan, and saw Jerry come in and Jerry go. Mark my words he's going to be on his tractor, on his farm next year and the next and next ect..... He didn't leave Utah because of D-Will, he left because he knew it was time to step down from coaching. Its a shame he never got Couch of the Year, and darn that Jordan guy, we would have had back to back championships in Utah. Oh well, Jerry will be soarly missed, but never forgotton.

On the contrary it had all to do with it.

Needed their Toy man to have the perfect retirement story to go on wining money out of his image even after retirement.

miadolphan1231

Either he stays retired or he comes out to compete for a championship and there are only a handful of contending teams looking for a coach to take them over the top. LA would be interesting but it wont happen since Brian Shaw is next in line to take the helm after Phil as his heir apparent, though it would be a good fit. Maybe NY though D'antoni deserves another year with Mike Brown in his ear.

I think he stays retired.. The only team I see him coming back to coach would be Oklahoma City because they are a young team that have a strong work ethic and respect authority and his resume. Would love to see a pick and roll with Westbrook and Ibaka.

He would be good for the knicks. Would the knicks not hire Sloan thinking it could cost them a chance at DWill? Sloan would be GREAT for the Hawks!! They really dropped the ball with signing their current coach.
