View Full Version : Is The 2011 NBA Draft The Worst Draft In NBA History?

It looks like this draft will definetly be an even worse one going into it, unlike previous years which had few marquee names like 2006 and 2000.

Everyone seems to be worried about the lockout which is pushing them to come back for another season. This in fact will make 2012 one of the strongest drafts in the past 10 years from top to bottom considering the 1 & Done players in this class.

What do you guys think?

It seems like there are only 3 legit cant miss prospects in Williams, Irving, & Barnes. But nobody is certain whether Irving or Barnes will come out.

Coming in its a weak draft class. But maybe it could end up be one of the best in the future. I believe in a few weeks that Sullinger will be in the draft.

Maybe but it looks like it will be senior laden with a lot of European players cashing in this year.

I doubt it on Sullinger. I think hes going to be a 3 year player actually.

JJ Sullinger already confirmed his brother was signed up for summer classes and gettin ready to bring another championship to Ohio State. Just paraphrasing it.

no, williams is going to be a star, irving will be very good, and harrison barnes has legit superstar potential. that guy is a cant miss guy if he can fill out his body properly and keep developing.

Obviously far too early to tell

I watch a lot of college ball and i can say that in this draft there's prolly not any superstar talent like that of Wall, Griffin, Durnat, Lebron, etc. But this draft is extremely deep, enough to get really solid players late in the first and early in the second.

2000 ring a bell.

it's funny how we all say this draft is weak

i've heard that 2009 was a weak draft and it wasn't

and i heard 2010 was a deep draft but so far alot of players look like busts

honestly i don't believe any of this 2011 is weak i'm thinking it won't be as well as you guys think it is in the end

You must not have been here for 2000 OR 2006

I hear the same thing every year though...Each draft has a few gems, the problem is finding them.

2000 draft class was a joke. 2011 at least has nice serviceable players and a couple of good starters. I also see maybe 2-3 allstars some point in their career

2000 class takes the cake.

well its too early to tell, none of them haven't played a single NBA game yet

I actually have high hopes for the players in this draft. Derrick Williams is a stud, as is Harrison Barnes. I don't like Sullinger, but he is still a good prospect. This draft class has depth but really no superstar talent.

well it does not have any kobes, lebrons, dwights or duncans but it has some quality players. one other thing ive noticed about college players, most of the college players seem humble. i never followed college basketball before. do these atheletes turn into whining babies and thugs once they sign their massive contracts in the nba? i havent seen a single thug wannabe or hardass in the tourney yet.

Kyrie Irving
Derrick Williams
Harrison Barnes
Perry Jones (high risk, high reward)
Ennes Kanter

in 2009 scouts said that it would be a weak draft class, imo it was pretty strong.
in 2010 scouts said that it would be a strong draft class, imo it was pretty weak, though it is still to early.

In this draft, there is no certain # 1 like there was last year (wall) or the previous (Griffin), but its got pretty decent talent

I laugh when people say the current draft is weak, when they hadnt played a single NBA game yet....... Give them ATLEAST a year or 2 for them to show something.

No draft will be worse than 2000

Uh, no. I'm not buying that this draft class is weak.

Harrison Barnes
Kyrie Irving
Perry Jones
Derrick Williams
Brandon Knight
Kemba Walker
Terrence Jones
Enes Kanter
Jared Sullinger
Jordan Hamilton

I think all of those players can be above average NBA players, that is, if they even enter the 2011 NBA Draft.

A mediocre draft. But it's extremely hard to surpass 2000. Kenyon Martin was #1 pick, and the only other good players were Turkoglu and Michael Redd.

Unless the draft is packed with foreign talent, then most likely.

I believe he's staying in Ohio state.

I also think that Donatas Motiejunas is going to be solid, from Lithuania.

Way too early to tell. A lot of people though the 09 class was gonna be horrific and it panned out better than most people thought.

It depends who declares for the draft and who decides to stay...

What?
03-27-2011, 03:52 PM
09 draft was supposed to be really weak outside of Griffin and ended up with Griffin, Evans, Jennings, Curry and others

This years draft sucked

There's no way that this draft will be worse then the 00 draft probably more like the 06 draft.

I'm not buying it....everyone says "[Insert Year] Draft Class is terrible" before it ever occurs. People said the Blake Griffin draft was a 2 player draft, it seems pretty good now. People compare draft classes to the '03 draft(which is unfair, classes like that occur onces ever decade) and if its not on pare its deemed bad

I actually believe this class will be good with or without Jared Sullinger....I think it will be better than last year's draft class.

wut about terrence and perry jones, i hear lebron comparisons for t jones, r they warranted, i hear lots bout barnes, irving, brandon knight,

i remember on stephen a smiths radio show they were talkin about kyrie irving and an nba scout sed that irving could run 5 pro offenses in the nba right now, and it was near the beginning of the ncaa season, i only get to watch march madness really, never get to watch reg season that much so i duno the verdict.

chadfordinsider Chad Ford-

Harrison Barnes playing like a No. 1 pick right now. Maybe draft isn't as bad as we've been making it out to be.

Barnes is going to be special i just hope teams ahead of the raptors are stupid and take williams and sullinger and someone else so he slips to us

03-27-2011, 07:19 PM
BTW i hear people automatically declaring irving a top pick lol and i love him too but IF knight declares he's the best PG prospect however im fairly certain he'll go back to school..

HuRRiCaNeS324

Barnes looks like he has superstar potential. Even though they lost, he shows he can take over a game when his team needs it. He didn't come out with the W today, but he has done it multiple times in the ACC Tournament and in the NCAA Tournament.

And Derrick Williams will definitely be a great player in the NBA. He has a body of a PF, but moves like a SF. He can be a poor mans Carmelo Anthony.

How about we not jump the gun and see in a few years if this draft class was bad? There could be some real stars in this draft.

Agreed. I honestly think this will be a pretty good draft, better than most think. Plus, people always say the same thing ever year about every draft class.
