This is one of the sickest blocks i've ever seen, and is probably a top 10 play of the year. absolutely sick. definition of a MAN'S BLOCK

I don't see why more big men do this, rather than spiking the ball straight into the stands.

Lmao this block was probably the best block of the season. Mcgee shows you spots where he can become a good player in this league. Hopefully he helps the Wizards become relevant again with John Wall

sweet!! it's such a demonstration of control... kinda like 'enough of this, now we're on offense'...

as a raps fan, i remember a very young mcgrady, once catching a shot in mid-air, with one hand and the ref was in such disbelief that he called a goaltending but it was legit..

I remember in the 2004 WCF's, Webber went baseline and KG did that same thing to him, and just started dribbling the other way. It was hilarious

maybe a stupid question but why is that not considered a steal?

good thing you sig quoted my sarcastic post. And added a facepalm. If you looked at my post history you would know that I hate all the Rose homers and I am not a rose supporter.

But Yea, this is PSD and people do not research things or understand what sarcasm is. Not to mention that I even wrote after that post that I was being facetious.

How can you not tell that was sarcasm anyway?

because the ball was directed toward the net not toward a person

Damn!!! Straight nasty. Matthews will have flash backs of this block everytime he goes hard to the rim. It will haunt him forever.

What if he was driving in and jumped on his way to attempting a layup and the ball was near his waste and it was ripped out in the same way, it would be considered a steal, right??

Dwight's been catching shots for a couple of seasons now, hasn't done it on a dunk yet, that was filthy by McGee:

I remember McGee blocking Rose's 3 in the game against Chitown where he had 12blks; he was like 7-10feet off of him guarding him 1v1 and Rose shot the trey, can't find a link but I have it on league pass. McGee is a great shotblocker with outstanding length and athleticism, he just needs to be more disciplined and smarter instead of contesting everything.

I suppose monster blocks are all you have to look forward to when you get blown out the building by 35...

That was literally the only thing of value the wizards can take from that game.

those are nice too. i don't understand why players think swatting it into the crowd is more entertaining and embarrassing to an opponent than snagging it outta the air. i find catching it wayyyyyyy better than slapping it into the crowd.

I've actually caught a ball on a reverse layup while playing pickup and it wasn't as fun as when I swatted it with both hands... Idk just the feeling of hitting it really hard and sending it really far, it's just different.

Btw I do play volleyball as well so maybe I'm a bit biased

Best block ive seen in a long while. Nice to see a player turn defense into offense like that, instead of putting the ball into the front row and trying to act macho. Some old school ball right there.

Wrong. As hawkeye stated earlier it was a shot attempt. When a player is in the motion of shooting he has not yet attempted a shot, hence it is a steal when the ball is taken away from this manner (a drive). It is not until the player actually shoots/puts up the ball for a shot when it is considered a block.

Going down as one of my all time favorites.

Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Not only was it a incredible block it was an incredible steal off of a dunk attempt.

Players spiking the ball into the crowd has to be one of the stupidest plays in basketball especially when you can't score if you don't have the ball and you give your opponent another chance to score.

Well that is funny that you so boldly claim it wrong since it was debated on PTI, so it obviously wasn't so clear cut. There were claims that Javale's blk was actually a steal. I thought his was a blk, just making the point that it is a fine line between the 2 when it's done in that fashion.

That could have easily been called a steal actually since he took it from his hands
