View Full Version : Is it possible Derrick Rose could win MIP and MVP this year?

Currently, the MVP award is Rose's award to lose. However, is it possible for Rose to win the Most Improved Player award as well? Has that ever happened before? Rose has improved dramaticly compared to his first two years, is it enough or does it make him a candidate for most improved player of the year as well?

It's possible, but I doubt it. MIP will go to someone like Ray Felton or Darko.

Yea Rose has improved greatly, he could possibly win both. But Kevin Love is also in the race for MIP so it's close.

I dont know if a player has won both in the same year before.

it looks like rose will win the mvp award, but if love doesnt receive the mip award this year it would be a travesty.

Kevin Love already has MIP in the bank.

Darko has a better chance of winning a playoff game cause he's not stealing that trophy from his teammate.

Yeah, Love seems to have MIP wrapped up.

I don't think you'll ever see a guy win both. It defeats the purpose of having the MIP award.

Is this a real question?

Its possible, but i think Kevin Love will most likely get the MiP. What he've done was amazing this year. And breakin records will allow him to get the award

Super.

I doubt it. Love seems to have that MIP pretty wrapped up.

MVP is a different story however

He's been amazing, but if it doesnt go to Klove, something is messed up. How is it Rose's award to lose?

Derick Rose doesnt really qualify for MIP.. They way I look at, He was number 1 pick he's expected to play at this level this far in his career... MIP should go to players who basically had an average seasons and have a break out season the next.. i.e. Kevin Love

He definitely will be receiving the "Most talked about player in PSD'S NBA forum" (MTAPIPNF) award which is an incredible story this season especially - with Lebron as the clear preseason favorite after the decision.

In some point in time, you have to give credit to his teammates as well. Just saying.

he hasn't improved anywhere close enough to be even considered for MIP

Nailed it.

Rose, could easily win both trophies. They will forever be separated, the NBA is a Business and marketing is a BIG money maker.

He went from being a poor defender to one of the best at his position in just one season.

Durant should've won MIP last year.

He can't be most improved. Everyone expected him to have these stats. Kevin Love is a lock for most improved.

Anyone who followed Love expected him to have the stats he's put up.

It doesn't matter if you're expected to put up these stats. An improvement is an improvement, no matter if it was expected or not. Rose is a good defender now, and has improved his shooting & playmaking as well. He's one of the most improved players in the league. To dismiss that because he "was expected to" doesn't make it any less of an improvement.

MIP will go to someone like Love or Eric Gordon or westbrook

No the only thing different to me is he's a better leader wit a better team than last yr cuz his shooting pct is actually dropped from last yr so no i don't think so

Love definitely deserves some type of award for what he's done this year. So MIP should go to him.

Tony_Starks

He definitely deserves both but yeah their giving it to Love.....

Hawkeye15
03-21-2011, 08:25 PM
the MIP is already on Love' mantle folks. I think we have had 6 of these damn threads throughout the season, and every one of them has the voting going overwhelmingly to Love. Bench player to all star breaking records not seen since before many of you were born. Pretty easy choice.

Raph12

Although I don't believe he's deserving of MVP, he's way more likely to win that and definitely isn't deserving of MIP... Doesn't even make the Top 5 for that one.

false. his overall shooting is better.

I think you could make a very strong case for Rose but I think this award with go to Kevin Love who is no where near as good as Rose but he jump for a role player to an allstar as been equally if not more so impressive if you consider he has far less talent.

jzero
03-22-2011, 01:37 AM
every1 expected rose to reach this height
that will psychologically affect decision making

most improve player award really isn't for top 15 players. a Guy like Kevin love would be perfect for this award.

Probably not MIP.

We all knew he was going to explode. So no one is probably surprised that he is doing all the things he's done.

MVP is probably going to him though.

Kyben36
03-22-2011, 02:31 AM
dont think so, is it possible, sure, but only if rose had come off a 6 point 3 assist season last year ( which didnt happen )

Kyben36
03-22-2011, 02:32 AM
and he could win MVP, THe Nba has yet to show if they will allow him to win it, or hand it over to lebron, or Wade.

I don't think he'll win the MIP. He'll probably win the MVP.

Either way, the guy's a monster.
