I have always wondered why the starters and even the bench players when they come out of the game for subs always put on those long sleeve shirts and sometimes the pants? It seems to me like I'd rather just be in my uniform. I always wanted to know what's up with that lol.

I've always had this question myself, keeping the muscles warm thing seems kinda logical but also odd because it wouldn't matter...i mean if they're going to sit those muscles are going to be at rest anyway.

I'm no phys ed or medical student/major but i do know that while playing basketball ur active and ur getting hot staying warm keeping loose, but when u go to the bench u sit ur at rest, it wont matter if the seats are heated ur gonna be at rest anyway

The reason why they wear the warm ups is so that they can look cool when they rip them off when they're about to check back in. It gives them a sort of "I'm prepared for battle" look

Muscles are like rubber bands....

When they are warmed up, they stretch alot further and are more flexible...

When they are cold, they don't stretch as far which leads to a greater chance for injury...

Hence, the warmups...
