On Tuesday, Avery Johnson told Michael Kay of ESPN that he had "no doubt" that the Nets would be able to re-sign Deron Williams.

The media asked Williams about his contract status with the team on Wednesday.

"I think Iíve got to see the collective bargaining agreement first," said Williams. "I think I have to opt out a year from now before I can even sign an extension, so thereís no reason to talk about it."

Al Iannazzone described Williams' response as "surly".

He doesn't want to talk about the contract but Avery Johnson is certain that he is going to remain a Net and is really happy that they got Deron instead of Carmelo.

What do you guys think at this very moment will he re-sign?

I'm a Nets fan and I don't see it. He'll go to LA or Texas.

Why do you think he'll go LA or Texas?

Texas is home and Kidd might be done by then

Why do you think he'll go LA or Texas?

He's from Texas and the Baron Davis deal was a precursor for getting Deron.

Prokrov wont dissapoint the guy, he will make trades and sign players that help with a title. He is similar to Cuban.

Probably every net fan on PSD polled in on this poll. No way it should be almost 50 50 lol.

Deron wants to win a championship. He isnt staying in NJ. NJ cant even win their own division let alone compete for a championship. LOL at this poll.

I can see it happening and im convinced that he will but i wouldnt stake my life on it. The Nets are playing well lately and its not inconceivable to think that if the Nets finish strong he'll consider it. Whether people admit or not Mikhail Prokhorov and his billion dollar arena in a major NY market with the possibilty of signing another star for him would be very enticing. Especially considering that his main issues with Utah was their unwillingness to spend. Also a team chef, a team barber, a team massage therapist, free ipads, other locker room amenities a la Mark Cuban... not saying these things matter but they show that the owner is willing to go above and beyond to keep his players...

depends, whether he thinks he can in NJ. At the end of the day it is all about winning

Depends on what moves they make around him. Also take into account other stars that will be free agents at the same time that Deron is.

if he doesnt stay in new jersey, i think he is head to dallas, dont understand why though, dirk is nearing his end, but cuban is willing to spend and i think dwill would like it

hope he stays with the nets for the fans sake

If I had to bet my life on it, I would say no but anything can happen over the next year or so. A lot of it depends on the CBA.

Too early to say, there's still another full season left next year before he's a FA. Johnson's comments are inconsequential though I will guess he stays with the Nets.

I don't think so, Deron won't like losing for long.

PhillyFaninLA

The whole key to the Melo deal was Melo signing a contract. D-Will had to indicate in some way that he would be open to signing an extension (I believe he isn't allowed to sign one until July, I seem to remember reading that).

I doubt the trade would have happened if Deron said I would not. I also think D-Will is more of Roy Halladay type in that he does not want to draw things out and have to move every couple years. I believe if Deron is content with where he lives and believes a team is going in the right direction he won't look to move.

I honestly don't think he will make a decision until the last second.

Depends on who the Nets bring in over the next year and a half.
With the new Arena, and the cap space they have,I believe that he will end up signing.

For now,I'm sure he doesn't even know what he's going to do.

He'll probably stay. Unlike other teams who are more worried about shedding salaries then winning championship(Utah Denver) the nets look like they'll do whatever it takes to build a title contending team for D-will
