View Full Version : Jason Terry on Lakers: 'We're not even worried about them; they're behind us'

Jason Terry on staying ahead of the Lakers: “We’re not even worried about them. They’re behind us. We got our sights set straight ahead.’’ … Nowitzki said the success the Mavericks have had on the road this season (19-8) really isn’t anything to put much stock in. “It’s a good thing,’’ he said. “You want to be good on the road and have confidence. But really, it doesn’t mean anything if you can’t win in the playoffs. We had to win a road game in San Antonio and couldn’t do it, so it didn’t mean anything.’’

Of course he would say that. Not showing respect is the biggest sign of respect.

I still hate JT... I despised him and Josh Howard BITD.

when i first starting following the NBA, i knew him as JT in Atlanta
then he goes to Dallas and all of a sudden he's JET and starts doing the wings thing

it's like he found out his initials were JET late in his life

I see the Mavs as the 4th most dangerous WESTERN Conference team. SAS, LA, and OKC seem to me the more potent threats. SAS and the Lakers for obvious reasons. But the Thunder will be a very, very dangerous team come playoff time. No one can say that they're too small up front. They could not have possibly got a better center in Perkins that fits their system. The Mavericks outside of Dirk bring wayyyy to many questions and skepticism to the table.

What a tool this guy is. After he says this we beat them on their court, then they lose a few games and we take their 2 seed. He's already eating his words, were gonna crush those bums on our floor and well see those tools in the playoffs hopefully because I really wanna be the ones to knock them out. Andrew Bynum will beast your whole team no doubt. We also have this guy named Kobe and Pau

I don't think any team is scared of the Mavs in the postseason to be honest.. Disappointment after disappointment, can't wait to face the Spurs or OKC in the WCF. :)

What do you guys expect terry to say? He's scared of the Lakers? He should have this confident mentality if he wants to beat the champs, or any team for that matter. Good for him.

I don't think there was anything wrong with what he said.

But no need to make a thread knocking him just because the Lakers are ahead of them in the standings now (which could very well be short lived).

This is coming from a guy who doesn't show up in the playoffs. Terry talks too much without backing it up when in counts in the playoffs. Already won one 6th man award no one gives a rats *** about that or anyone regular season crap.

So true. The Mavs are the biggest choke artists when it comes to the playoffs that I dont think any team is really worried or afraid of them to say the least...

Does Terry not understand how the playoff bracket works? Assuming SA #1, DAL/LAL #2/#3, and OKC #4 and no first round upsets LA and Dallas would match up in the second round, regardless of who lands the 2nd seat.

I'd expect him to be sufficiently adept in a public speaking forum to deflect and speak to the Mavs' focus and objectives without mentioning another team. There are lots of ways to say, "We're not worried about the Lakers," without mentioning the Lakers... or any other team for that matter.

But when Terry responds the way that he did, you just shake your head and think, "Wow, they bought the man books; they sent him to school; they even gave him a degree; but he's STILL stupid! :bang: "

And who the hell is worried about OKC? Win more than 2 games in the postseason before you talk ****, as OKC has done nothing.

Yeah, JT didn't need to word it the way he did. It was probably "taken out of context" lol Anyways, the Lakers have moved into the #2 seed but let's not pretend they have it locked up. Plenty of games left. Am I betting the Lakers get the two seed? Sure, but let's keep the perspective unlike JT there.

I'd rather go through the rebuilding process for three years than go through an entire decade of choking like a baby trying to swallow a hotdog whole.

P.S. Read the thread, there's more people in here worried about the inexperienced, "haven't done **** in the playoffs" Thunder than they are of the experienced, constant 50-win Mavs... That should tell you something right there.
