Marquette over achieved this year, but they were so close to a top 6 seed.

They beat ND, WVU (2), Syracuse, and @ Uconn. Played Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, Duke, and Gonzaga extremely close in the non-conference schedule. They also blew a big lead late @ Louisville. Oh well :sigh:

Sorry, but no UNC is not coming together at the right time. They should have lost to Miami in the second round to the ACC tournament, and Clemson in the third round. Both teams blew double digit leads, aided by the refs. Miami led by almost 20 points at one point in that game. UNC is a talented, but not well coached team.

Stuck on Nova and George Mason.

George Mason (besides a tourney loss to VCU) has a nice streak going, and Nova has lost five in a row. I don't know if that means that I should pick Nova because of that though. They lost to a bunch of really good teams besides USF. The only huge difference between these teams is that George Mason shoots the three better.

Ludicrous statement, if I do say so. If anything, its the other way around. Roy Williams is a great coach. His team is talented, however, they are young, inexperienced and haven't meshed well. To say they aren't well coached is crazy.

Washington can go off at any time, but there have been stretches where the Huskies will go a few minutes without making a bucket.

The two big issues that UW has to overcome are...

First, that MBA is really off and on as the post presence. He seems to rush most of his shots inside and miss the majority when playing against a physical team. So if UW wants to make any noise, something tells me he will have to shoot a good percentage.

Secondly, UW shot over 23 three pointers per game on average during the season. That number needs to decrease in the tournament. Thomas and Overton need to drive to the hoop rather than simply spot up and try to drain threes. Same goes for Ross and Wilcox... Both are capable three point shooters, but UW plays so much better when they make a move to the basket.

Can't wait for the game... Just have to see which UW team shows up.

-- I have UW beating UNC and losing to Syracuse.

UW's game was too close for comfort. MBA had an alright game... He missed a few of his normal 2-5 ft jumpers.

These refs love North Carolina. Interesting how no Pac10 teams got to play in any of the Western locations during the opening weekend. Washington ends up playing North Carolina in Charlotte, UCLA got to play Florida in Tampa, and Arizona gets to face Texas in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In all 3 cases it's pretty much like a home game for the Pac10 opponents. Why did no Pac10 teams get to play in Tucson or Denver?

BRAVE KID
03-20-2011, 02:28 PM
Refs screwed that last play up. They should of had more than .5 seconds to inbound and shoot the ball..why the hell did they not review that?? These refs (basketball) continue to prove they are the worst officials in sports. Come on people, you HAVE to review every single thing when the game is close.

Anywho, Henson is one stupid *** player. Not only did he give Washington a chance to put up a shot with .5 seconds left (should of been 1.1 seconds or so) but the idiot decides to contest a shot when it's already in the air..that could of easily been goaltending..so lucky that wasn't a 3.

Even with all of that Washington deserved to lose that game. The shots they took were so ********, every time they had a 3/4 point lead they would take a unnecessary 3 or long jumper with plenty of time left on the shot clock. Washington has nobody to blame but themselves..could of managed the game much better.

Let's see, 20 fouls against Washington and 9 fouls against North Carolina. Tar Heels made 18 of 23 free throws and the Huskies made 7 of 7 free throws. In spite of this huge discrepancy Washington almost managed to overcome all that but then the home town clock operator made that last shot even more hectic.

They run and gun more then anyone in the country, and they dont have much of a set offense. Then I'm going to have to blame that on your head coach. You can live and die by the 3...but you can do it in an intelligent manner. It just baffled me with the type of shots they took...when they even had a lead. Those long rebounds create transition points on the other end. When you have 24 seconds left on the shot clock, you don't have to take a long contested two. It was just baffling..lack of discipline. Ya man I know what you mean. Terrence Ross takes 4-5 shots a game too early in the clock. It happens far too often. It doesnt help either that we're not a great rebounding team. I wouldnt put all the blame on the shots but its always a big factor.

It's a shame because UNC really didn't look much better than Washington.

Your absolutely right. It was a complete mess.

Ya man I know what you mean. Terrence Ross takes 4-5 shots a game too early in the clock. It happens far too often. It doesnt help either that we're not a great rebounding team. I wouldnt put all the blame on the shots but its always a big factor.

I just couldn't believe how many stupid turnovers we had. All of a sudden nobody on the team could hold onto the ****ing ball. The early foul trouble really killed us too.

MBA must have dropped the ball five times in the post.

These refs better get the same type of backlash (ok, maybe slightly less) that the Big East refs got. They went to the review and STILL got the call wrong. Either that, or they lied to Mr. Romar and said they checked the clock when they really didn't. Either way, :pity: to the refs.

On a positive note I was really impressed with Aziz today. Usually he cant squeeze any rebounds, but today he stepped it up. Now only if he can develop and offensive game.

Next season is going to be interesting. MBA will be gone, leaving Aziz and redshirt freshman Desmond Simmons as the only returning big men. But we have Jernard Jarreau 6'10'' 200lbs PF from New Orleans and Kevin Davis 6'9'' 220lbs PF who plays at TCC coming in. Then theres Tony Wroten and Hikeem Stewart at PG and SG.

The biggest thing is if Isaiah is going to stay or not. I know he's said he wants to play all four years but we'll see.

I hope IT stays. I'd bet he does. I'm really interested to see the development of Ross and Wilcox. They're gonna be bad *****.

Aziz was good on the glass today. His offensive game is horrible though. When they feed him the ball down low I start yelling, Noooooooooo.

Ross and Wilcox could end up being the best players from this years team when its all said and done. I've heard people talking about Ross leaving after this year, which would be stupid.

That would really suck. The future with those two on the team would be bright. I'd take four years of each of them. Yes please!!

You can't blame Overton for taking that three. He thought he was going to be fouled. If he got fouled and didn't shoot the three we'd be complaining about that instead.

We lost the game because we didn't take care of the ball. UNC isn't that good. They don't play defense or rebound, not to mention they are sub-par at shooting threes.

It's really too bad MBA can't learn to pump fake and then dunk it rather than constantly miss his lay-ins and 2-4ft shots.

As I said before, next year UW will have...

Gaddy
Thomas
Ross
Wilcox
Wroten

All five of those guys can create their own shot (not to mention there are others who could surprise all of us next season). Ross impressed me a lot the last few games. He and Thomas are really the only two guys who are willing to drive to the hoop and take some mid-range jumpers. No way Ross is leaving.

Don't forget Gant will be back next year, but then again, he doesn't play like a true big. No doubt our question mark will be finding a post presence and rebounding. I don't think there is a team with 5-6 better scoring guards than the five I listed above (+ Suggs).

After that Syracuse loss, Charles Barkley's mouth ran rampant on tru.TV.

He proceeded to say it was "overrated, and is a conference full of coaches" all this while Rick Pitino is sitting right across from him. I'm a Big 12 guy, but wtf does Barkley really know?

Well the only Big East team that has looked impressive is UConn.
Notre Dame looks dead right now.

I've felt all year that the BE was very deep, but wasn't as good at the top as the other power conferences. We'll see how it plays out the rest of the way though. Marquette was the last BE team in the tourney and they're in the sweet 16 so that speaks about the depth of the conference.

We'll never know if more or fewer BE teams would have advanced to the S16 if they weren't matched up against each other in the first weekend.
