View Full Version : What player(s) do you wish career was not ruined by injuries?

NBAfan4life

I was reading the Westbrook thread and it got me thinking. Off the top there are players like:

Penny
G Hill
T-mac
Bill walton

and numerous others.

The two players I would of loved to watch them fulfill there potential would have to be Grant Hill and Penny hardaway.

What players you guys got?

T-Mac for sure. Yao Ming, Greg Oden are a few others that come to mind. And even though he had a nice long career, I still imagine what Alonzo Morning could have done if not for that kidney issues.

I with Penny Hardaway's career hadn't been ruined by injuries. He'd be just as good as a healthy Tracy McGrady, if not better. More importantly, I with Robert Horry and Rick Fox's careers had been ruined by injuries.

some of these guys careers haven't been or weren't ruined by injury. either way, I think the league and definitely the west would be very different had Greg Oden not been injury plagued.

I am also saddened that T-Mac fell off too. I have no doubt it's because of how reckless he played and how much he gave it all to win games for his terrible team when he was stuck in Orlando. Gotta give him props for logging 40+ minutes a game on the worst team in the league every night. As a Magic fan, he made watching a terrible team watchable. Sucks that he's paying for it now.

and i know its not nba, but Ken Griffey Jr would have had CRAZY #s if he didnt spend 1/3 of his career on the DL

Griffey had crazy power, I remember when he was still in the minor leagues playin for the Bellingham Mariners here locally the fences at the local stadium are abnormally deep, like 520 to center 500 to right guy knocked one so deep over the right center fence he bounced one off the apartment complex across the street atleast hitting at the 2nd floor.

Back to basketball, Yao Ming had the ability to be one of the best centers of all time. Too bad his feet couldnt hold out.

bovice163
03-13-2011, 07:54 PM
Oden, Yao, and Roy. Oden still has time to recuperate, but it's really not looking good. Brandon Roy is one of the best competitors in the league today, and the guy has stayed humble and upbeat even when he's coming off the bench. I love that guy. Yao had the possibility of solidifying himself as one of the best C's of All-time, especially if he won a ship or two, but those foot injuries have really set him off track and ending his career early.

who knows, you might not have needed or wanted them though. I was thinking about Jay the other day. I really wonder what kind of player he would have become.

But for me, its always the obvious 2, Penny and GHill. They no doubt would have been really special. Grant Hill is still one of the better players in the league now.

Jermain O'Neal. He was a superstar with my Pacers and then he started to get hurt early and often. Then theres T-Mac that was my favorite player in this league for some time. Odens carrier is no where near being over. the kids only 23-24 years old lol. Hes got plenty of time to get on track.

Grant Hill could have been one of the best ever. He had the talent and is still one of the smartest players on the floor at all times. His basketball IQ is off the map.

Greg Oden
