What team would win the NBA Championship this year?

_KB24_
03-12-2011, 05:48 PM
It depends on what the match ups are going to be. But here are the teams I would say have the best odds:

1. Lakers
2. Spurs
3. Boston
4. Chicago
5. Heat

Boston giving away Perkins brought down their stock SIGNIFICANTLY. Perkins was their defensive answer to the Lakers and Magic, and now he's gone. Lakers and Spurs are the most dangerous. They both have the depth, experience and star power to beat any team. The Heat and Bulls are both serious contenders but I feel will suffer when faced with unfavorable match ups.

Do you mean what team will win? If so I'm still going to go with Miami who was my preseason pick.

Unlike some years in the past where there was the clear cut leading contender, this year teams should feel like they can win the 'ship.

LA, Miami, SA, BOS, and Chicago can all beat each other on any given night. The question is the road to which they get their. The Lakers might stumble against the Thunder. Miami may falter against the Knicks. SA may not have the legs underneath them to go for a prolonged run. Boston may be in trouble come playoff time due to their very injury prone/old front court. Chicago's inexperience may be a factor.

I think it will be Lakers over the Bulls. But I cannot believe San Antonio gets one vote. Jackson gets another ring against the team that started in all for him

Unlike some years in the past where there was the clear cut leading contender, this year teams should feel like they can win the 'ship.

Agreed.

No Knicks  :(

They just don't play enough defense. Also, I gotta give Amare and Melo a full year together before having any big expectations from them. I think it's safe to say that none of the top four teams would want to see the Knicks in the first round though.

Fyi the Mavs do exist. 5.8%? Pathetic.

Unfortunately for the Mavs they have history working against them here. They've had a great season though, this is their best team since the 2006 squad, IMO. Chandler has made a huge impact, and Dirk is yet again playing at an MVP level.

People will pass on Dallas until they prove them wrong. They just have too many blow series leads, too many first-round exits, and too many losses to lesser opponents (worse reg. season records) in the playoffs to put money on.

spurs.
the spurs fans here disgust me at least vote. its really a who has more fans vote than championship vote

That's how every poll on PSD is. That's why its nice to see who voted for what, that way you can at least see how the posters you respect swayed on any given poll.

kdspurman
03-13-2011, 01:53 AM
Might be weird but i voted for the spurs cause 2 votes is pathetic lol but in all honesty it's the lakers in my unbiased opinion. I think san antonio has a good shot, but lakers look really good now. it will take poise discipline and smart play to beat them in a 7 game series. Not to mention taking care of business in the 1st and 2nd round. it's all about matchups. if the lakers get okc or dallas gets a team like denver or spurs get a team like portland anything can happen. (not saying there will be upsets but you just never know)

anjoe29
03-13-2011, 03:02 AM
lakers gonna win it.. it might be tough but they can handle business in the playoffs.. they are a veteran team, too much size, a coach named "phil" and of course too much kobe...

What I find funny is that the Spurs and Mavs have 3 and 4 votes respectively...

The Lakers, Knicks, Bulls, Heat, and Celtics have more votes...

I wouldn't bet against Manu, Parker, and Duncan.... That's just me though...

I'm just a Sixer fan and, even though they'll make the playoffs and probably beat the Knicks in the 1st round, they aren't an option... How ironic would that be ???

Same could be said for the lakers Bynum>shaq
Gasol>Garnett only clear cut advantage the celtics have is pg with rondo but Kobe always hold him down he usually always plays bad when Kobe guards him... The way the lakers have been playing lately there is no one stopping them and yes that includes you Miami!

It'll probably come down to the Lakers/Celtics-if the Celtics have a healthy rotation of big men, which looks unlikely right now.
Guess the Lakers will get their third consecutive ring.

It's going to be Boston. Or LA. Why? because the NBA is one of the most predictable sports in existence. The same handful of teams win all the titles.

Only on a rare occasion does some dark horse team randomly win a championship. Like the Heat a few years ago.
