The Clippers could have traded Baron Davis and their number one pick in the 2011 NBA Draft that was used to acquire Mo Williams and Jamario Moon in a similar deal for the expiring contract of Yao Ming, according to Bill Simmons.

Los Angeles made the trade in order to improve their salary cap situation in each of the next two offseasons, but a trade for Yao would have produced more financial savings.

Simmons is known for having a close friendship with Houston general manager Daryl Morey.

Yoa ming as been one of the most disappointing players of the century !! old news that never began ..if he was healthy his whole career he and t-mac would of maybe (maybe) make a few title runs !! Man i know i wasn't the only one anticipating the T-Mac Yoa ming V. Kobe SHAQ .

Yea instead of getting nothing we picked up a PG who looks like he fits our team better and led us to a win over Boston on the road last night! Nice move by my Clipps, things are looking up!!

I wonder when Yao is a free agent this summer how much would he sign for with a team?
4-5 million?

He might play 1 more season, hopefully anyway, wouldnt mind seeing him have one last run with a big contender.

I rather have Yao. Think about it.... Increase the already overhypped (not overrated) Griffin, but now in China too. But in a basketball perspective, Mo was the better move.

Interesting, surprised the Rockets would have taken a chance on a guy like Baron Davis. I guess they would have tried to trade him elsewhere?

I thought by no. 1 pick, the OP was referring to Blake Griffin :laugh2:

I'd maybe trade a 2nd rd pick for Yao, or two benchwarmers. Nothing more

Hes no idiot but hes close when he discusses the Rockets, Morey would have never made that deal. Baron is the exact opposite of what Morey would want on the squad
