The Los Angeles Lakers are 7-0 since the All-Star break, won those games by an average margin of 11.4 points and just rolled up an historic 28-point halftime lead on a San Antonio team that hadn't lost at home since the day after Thanksgiving.

The Lakers, not coincidentally, are also the new No. 1 in ESPN.com's weekly NBA Power Rankings.

By pounding the league's only 50-win team on its home floor Sunday, L.A. continued its gradual resurrection from painful back-to-back losses to the Miami Heat and San Antonio at Christmastime and thus knocked the Spurs off the top of the rankings for the first time in eight weeks.

The champs climbed four spots to No. 1 in the tightest jumble at the top all season, with the Spurs losing two games last week to fall to No. 3. The Chicago Bulls' weekend wins in Orlando and Miami hiked them to a season-high No. 2, while unfortunate Dallas and Boston -- neither of whom did anything terribly wrong -- dipped to Nos. 4 and 5 because of all the quality stuffed into the upper crust of the rankings.

Miami, meanwhile, has tumbled three spots to No. 9 after starting an 11-game run against playoff-bound teams with four straight defeats.

Lakers holding opponents to 87 ppg since All-Star break. That will get it done!
