View Full Version : Which Teams Could Use Rip?

It is not clear as to whether or not Rip will get a buy-out from Detroit. He turned down buy-out options in Cleveland, nixing a potential trade and freedom from the duldrums of Detroit, but one may yet be reached with Detroit, should Joe D choose to do what it takes to subdue one of the variosu distractions that are retarding Detroit progress.

If Rip Hamilton should be bought out, what current NBA team could turn from playoff team, to contender, with Hamilton in the line up?

New York has been starting four forwards most of the season, and have obviously given up some depth in their accusition of Carmelo. Billups has championship chemistry with Rip, and Rip could get some open shots with Amare and Melo drawing double teams. Could be a great fit.

The same could be said of Chi-town, who many feel are a shooting guard away from contending. Though Rip's FG% has been low this season, getting opening shots from defences that are already spread thin having to double team the like or Rose and Boozer.

And while Miami's biggest problem is the center spot, they also lack depth, Rip could allow Wade to move to PG while he and LBJ share ball handling duties and Rip could add some height to the back court, or could just be a great guy to have coming off the bench.

Rip still has game in my opinion, and aroudn the right talent could be a valuable weapon.

Any thoughts on where fans of various teams might want to see Rip play this season should he get a buy out?

IMO he'd be a nice fit for the Thunder and Chicago.

I know Chicago fans are so starved for a decent starting SG right now, we'd take anyone over Bogans. a SG of Rips caliber, who has play off experience, would be very beneficial for us.

I would love him in NY... Having him providing scoring off the bench would be hugely valuable.

Chicago should be perfect for Rip. The missing piece.

And he could be the RING bearer if he does come to Chicago.

Dallas. Especially since the Mavs couldn't trade for Tayshaun Prince or JR Smith. Mavs need that swingman that could put up points either at the starting 2 or off the bench. Barera and Beaubois have been rotating in that starting 2 position since Butler went down. Hamilton and Terry off the bench is a lot of swingman fire power.

lets face it, rip is a stand up guy, he reminds me of a ray allen, he'll pretty much fit in anywhere, it'll be good if chicago got him though. they'll easily be a championship team

It is clear that the Piston's won't buy him out. If any teams wanted him, they should've traded for him.

agreed. i dont see him going anywhere and really messing up any team chemistry or being a distraction to the team. would LOVE him in chicago though, definitely solidify our team.

Detroit is a fail for not dealing him + cash in a package deal before the deadline.

Now they will pay him and he will play somewhere else.

He's not good I sure as hell don't want him. Bulls are already paying a crappy guard why pay another. His defense is gone his shooting isn't that great and his 3% is a pretty small sample size. I'd rather Korver just play better shooter and as bad defensively.

If you think Rip's a crappy guard then  to you.

The only reason Rip isn't the same is because Chauncey is gone.
Chauncey knew how to set up Rip. Put them back together and Rip will be old Rip again.

So actually if one team could benefit with having Rip it would be the Knicks. Chauncey plays in New York so I could actually see Rip starting in New York. Then the Knicks would have potential to make it to the finals.

Is Rose a good distributor? If so I could see him playing really well with Rose. The question is can Rose set Hamilton spot up buckets?

I would take him here in Chicago. Not sure if he will be bought out, but if he is, hopefully he comes to Chi-Town. In my opinion, if he wants to be a starter, he should come here. I'm pretty sure there's other teams that could use him as well, though. Should be interesting to follow along.

The big players that need him are Chicago and Boston. He would have been nice on the Jazz before we traded D. Will.

Knicks could use a scorer like Rip off the bench..

Bulls also
