View Full Version : Which teams will make it to the finals.

1.Lakers- Most people say they are coasting with a below expectation season so far. But they are the contending champs so no matter what their record, they are #1 on my list.

2. Celtics- The past 3 years they have made it to the finals twice and winning the title once. A good defensive team with many veteran players. Including them in my list is a MUST.

3.Bulls- The #1 defensive team in the league. The Bulls have surprised me this season, they have defiantly played above my expectations. With D-Rose leading this young team, I can see them easily making it to the Finals.

4.Heat- Before the season many were saying the Heat will break the 72-10 record set by Chicago. A slow start to the season with 8-9 proved that this was not going to happen. Since that slow start the Heat have been climbing to the top of the east, now currently the 2nd seed. But the Heat have not had a good record against top teams, 0-3 against Boston and 0-2 against Chicago to name a few. They are the so called super team though, so you cant really know what to expect from them during the playoffs. That is why I have included them in my list.

5. Spurs- A team with the best record in the league. Many declining veteran players in this team, so the question is will they be able to keep up with the younger teams in a 7 game series? We will have to wait and see.

Spurs/Lakers vs. Celtics/Heat

Either of those teams will make it. Chicago isn't there yet in my opinion for this season, they're not battle tested as a group in the playoffs and that's huge. I think next season will be the year they make a very deep playoff run.

The Mavs are also a sleeper if they can somehow find a way not to disappoint their fans in the postseason anymore.

Celtics or Knicks maaybe the Bulls (Heat will not even come close)

vs.

Lakers (The Spurs will not even come close and I would be surprised if they are not swept in the first round)

hey godolphins dont be so bitter. the bulls have a very good shot at making the championship game this year. Although I for one do think that the team is still a bit away, they are a very good team, with a very good coach, and much crazier things have happened. I for one, as of now, do think that it will be the spurs versus the heat. But the bulls should definitely be in the conversation and to say that they dont belong in the conversation is purely asinine. and i understand that, assuming you are a heat fan, at the moment you are somewhat bitter by any thought of the chicago bulls due to the well fought and tough game, but it is no reason to be blatantly biased against the team. If anything, I would imagine that you would like to admit the bulls are a good team, so that the 0 and 2 record you have against them would make the heat look better, because there is no shame in losing to a title contending team. Also, note that I am not stating that the bulls are better than the heat. a 2 and 0 record is nice, but to counter that one could say that the knicks are 2 and 0 versus the bulls. I for one, do not view the knicks on the same level as the heat and bulls. For east, it is a toss up. Most likely, in order, Celtics, Heat and Bulls. However, this is subject to change of course. Atlanta and the magic are lurking in the background as well.

As for the OP, I would also include the Thunder, with the great moves they made today, the magic, they could get on superman's back and he could take them there. its possible, i wouldnt put money on it tho, and also the mavs, well coached veteran team and i like their makeup.

I dont see anyone in the east beating a HEALTHY Celtic team, but I do think whoever wins the West will win the title except maybe the Mavs.

West: toss up. I like LA's chances depending on matchup, but the Spurs and Mavs have a good shot as well. The Mavs did make it to the finals once before and do have an impressive record against elite teams. Still, I think the Lake show is once again a favorite to win the west even if only slightly.

I see a rematch of last year's finals. However i think The Lakers and Boston are even now with the departure of Perkins. I was dumbfounded when i heard he was traded. Perkins is unbelivably underrated. Ainge must know something, because he was the X factor last year, like it or not

heres the proof:facepalm:

Haha, got em'.

This dude probably doesn't watch too much basketball outside the Heat. Even at that he should then be aware that they haven't beaten the Bulls. I ain't even a Bulls fan, but I think if D-Rose can get fired up, and that D can hold it down for him, they're incredibly dangerous.

I don't hate the Heat but some of their smug fans make it so easy to root against them. To the point I really hope it's anyone but them, just so it's a dissapointment haha.

Sixers takin' it all anyways, I don't even know why you guys are debating this haha.

Lakers struggled against elite teams last season. In the playoffs, a regular season is a loss, nothing more. It doesn't matter who it came against. Losing to the Celtics or Bulls is the same as losing to the Cavs. But that's not saying the Heat shouldn't have any level of concern. Next 2 week are big week for the Heat. Got the Magic, Lakers, Spurs, and Bulls again.

The Bulls are not the best defensive team in the league. Boston currently leads the league in lowest opponents PPG.

The Bulls currently have the highest defensive efficiency rating

The C's give up the fewest points per game, but the Bulls give up the fewest points per 100 possessions.

your right. cant ignore that. but as we seen before many time the reg season has little relivance to the playoffs...

Yes missing Haslem hurts but so did missing Boozer and Noah for Chicago.
Haslem looks to be out for the rest of the season (I hear they're teachiing him how to WALK again, yikes:( ) so If the Heat want a championship they MUST beat these teams despite him.

Despite that you have to show you can get up for these big games. The fact Mia blew an 11 point lead despite Bosh's shooting should be upsetting.

Yanks All Day
02-25-2011, 03:19 PM
I like how so many people disregard the Spurs. They have a 5 1/2 game lead over Boston for the best record in the entire NBA and have a near perfect mixture of youth and experience. To say they are sure to decline is a little much considering the Celtics seem to defy age and no one writes them off. I wouldn't want to se Parker, Duncan, Ginobili, Jefferson, Blair, Neal, Hill, Bonner, and McDyess in the playoffs on a Pop coached team. For the first time in a few years, the Spurs are healthy and absolutely dominating the league, yet some people have the Lakers, Mavs, and/or Thunder over them.
