Wow, Battier is going to be a great fit there. Hopefully they can make a strong push for the playoffs. Back to the Grizz for him.

IDC about Thabeet I don't think he will do much but that 1st round pick is a nice take away.

Battier is a great fit for Memphis, and Thabeet and the 1st just further add to Houston's stable of young players and picks. Good deal both ways IMO.

If they are able to use Thabeet in the correct way, and have him bulk up a ton, he could end up being a very good player.

I like the trade for both parties

good trade on both ends. It's up to Houston to use the draft pick wisely.

I really think they were going to make it anyway. I'd be shocked if Jazz maintain their position and I just don't think the Suns have enough talent. If anything, it may help them get into a higher seed.

Lets see if Thabeet lives up to his high pick.

Good Move for the Grizzlies, Battier = Winner. There was like a whole book about that.

I wish the Celtics had just traded a pick and a role player for Battier instead of trading Perkins/Robinson for Green/Kristic.

Whats a better deal for the Grizz?

Battier for Thabeet and a Grizz 1st

Or

Corey Brewer for Thabeet?

Easily Battier. Corey Brewer has been atrocious for the Wolves this season.

Memphis and Phoenix both are making the playoffs. Denver and Utah are dropping out.

Fantastic trade for Memphis. Battier was a big fan favorite in his first stint and will be so again. His addition will help Memphis make the playoffs, he always seems to be making those little plays that help teams win games.

A great FA to be in the summer, but he was clearly not in the Rockets future plans. Great trade by Morey to stack some draft picks and start to build a team that he wants (not the one that was given to him -- no Yao or Tmac).

Risky move for the Griz.

How?

They got rid of Thabeet a player who wasn't going to do anything for them with Gasol starting. Battier is also an expiring so he frees up money for them to spend on both Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph. It's a really low risk deal in all honesty.

why does Memphis want him? They're not going to make the playoffs and he is a FA this summer.

Have you even been paying attention to any of the reports? Prior to this. He is a great addition and they are currently in the hunt and with the trades made by the Jazz and Nuggs they are in all likeliness going to make the play-offs.

As a Rockets' fan, I'm not happy at all with this deal. I wanted Houston to keep Battier until he retired, and if I'm Shane I wouldn't come back to the team over the offseason that just traded me months before.

I honestly have no faith in Thabeet whatsoever. I'd be shocked if he could even develop into a decent bench big. Essentially, they made this deal for a first rounder and I don't even know when that pick will be, as it clearly can't be this season.
