View Full Version : Flynn On The Trading Block

A number of GMs are telling me that the Wolves are out there offering Jonny Flynn around the league. Flynn was the No. 6 pick in the draft in 2009. The Wolves drafted Flynn and Ricky Rubio in the lottery -- passing on a number of other more successful guards including Stephen Curry, Brandon Jennings, Jrue Holiday, Ty Lawson and Darren Collison to get them. But injuries and general poor play by Flynn and the possibility of Rubio joining the team this summer now have the Wolves looking to move him.

I guess Rubio might have gave a hint that he would come over.

I think he has a chance to be a good player in this league, people give up on these young guys wayyyy too early. If they aren't instant stars they're considered busts. If a team picks him up and really helps develop could be a great move.

doubt theres a lot of demand out there. maybe the lakers or the hawks? i think he could be an okay player in the right system.

Miami, New York, Lakers, Hornets, and Spurs need to explore how much it cost to get him

They have Ridnour and the rights to Rubio. Telfair is also there

Lakers need to as well.

I'd love him in Miami, but I don't think the Heat have the assets to get a deal done.

Flynn is a good player, but as the OP said, Rubio is coming next year, and Flynn has more trade value then Ridnour, who will be a fine enough backup to Ricky

Where's KG?

Im all for dumping flynn.....Shooting Guard out there anyone??? Thats what the Wolves really need....From the article at the top...I only have 1 dispute, it says we passed on Lawson. We drafted then traded him, put pass on him we did not.

Im not Hawk, but I am a Wolves fan. Darko and Pek are cool at the 5. We are waaay good at the 3 and 4 spots (Randolph, Love, Beasley) Wes plays both the 2 and 3 along with Martell Webster. Don't need a PG....but we really need a solid starting 2 guard

Good luck with that Minny, Flynn is extremely average. Didn't even impress people in the D league....

His style and height doesn't fit the triangle offense point guard.

I don't think its gonna matter after next year to be honest. I'm not a huge fan anyways. Seems like we're always limiting who we draft or trade for because of it. I know for a fact Buss hates the triangle. I can't see it staying past this season.

Back in 2004 when he was seething, Lakers owner Jerry Buss would have a few pops and tell anyone within earshot — even a Lakers beat reporter or two — how much he despised the triangle. Buss made it clear even to random strangers. He loved fast-break basketball ala the Lakers’ vintage Showtime teams, and he was tired of the unbalanced floor look that Jackson’s triangle teams employed.

Knicks could use a PG for the future, but I don't know what kind of value Minny wants at the 2 spot. Fields is too good, any other guard might not be enough.

Pistons fan here..we have plenty of SG. Don't think you would want McGrady or Rip.
If you want a 3pt specialist in Ben Gordon or the basket attacking type in Rodney stuckey.
I think stuckey for flynn works straight up.
If you would eat BG contract mayb BG, 2nd rd pick (or two) for flynn, curry?

Flynn's strength is on the open floor, while Lakers' strength is half court with their length.

With the aging squad, I don't see Lakers running much next season or any season before Kobe retires.

all the potential in the world, but he's a horrible decision-maker and has very weak court vision. he needs to play under a proven veteran PG.

If I'm not mistaken, MIN runs the triangle. I think Avery Bradley would be a good fit there. However, I really like him and think he fits well in BOS too. I think he will be a great backup to Rondo that can play some SG off the bench as well. I honestly wouldn't want to trade him for Flynn at this point. He's been real bad this year.

darko and pek are not good at the 5, we are not waaay good at the 3...If we were waaay good at the 3 and 4 spots, and good at the 4 spot, we would not have this awful record. The Wolves are good at the 4 spot...they have a need everywhere else.

Toney Douglas, Billups back-up PG Tonight was 10-12 with 23 Points, 3 Assists, 2 Steals, 3 Rebounds, and 3-5 Threes, and is a better defender then Flynn.

Billups had a great balanced Stat sheet as usual with 21 Points, 8 Assists, 6 Rebounds, 2 Steals.

They played together a lot of the time.

I dont think Knicks are desperate For A Back-Up PG as before, but then again it was the Bucks.

Nah Boston's got no interest in pgs unless they were putting a sf in there as well.

Hard to gage Flynn so far, injury, system, and overall record. he has the tools.
