Just got off the phone with a member of another team's front office and he confirmed two things for me:

Yes, the Blazers are very close to a deal for Gerald Wallace, likely involving Przybilla, draft choices and perhaps cash. The source told me that he believes the deal is "done."

He also confirmed that the Trail Blazers are shopping Greg Oden around the league. "They want to get something back for him ... they aren't looking to give him away."http://www.csnnw.com/pages/landing?Gerald-Wallace----Im-hearing-its-real-cl=1&blockID=416407&feedID=8351

I believe he is in the last year of his deal. So maybe they thought they had no chance of resigning him. And just wanted to get a pick out of it. Who knows what Jordan is thinking. Greatest BB player of all time but man does he suck at running a team.

Disappointing that the Bobcats decide to trade their franchise player (the arena will need it's posters and wallpaper of him stripped from EVERYWHERE) for a can of corn.

That's not true. The bobcats arena still has posters of Sean May, Primo Brezek, Adam Morrison, Emeka Okafor, Walter Hermann and ,many other former stars for the Cats. Gerald Wallace will be on the walls there forever. At least until they realize that none of those players play there anymore and do someting about it.

For who? Has this been confirmed yet?

My sources from The Nickel Block say it's either a package of:

Przybilla and picks

or Andre Miller, Marcus Camby and ?

I would absolutely HATE the latter, seeing as how Patty Mills is not fit to run the first team offense and we have no centers that can play 35+ except for Camby. Miller and Camby for Wallace would be an utter shame.

As a 'cats fan I hate to see Crash go. However the minds in the front office have been trying to free up money since the off season. With the 'cats somewhat in the hunt for the playoffs it's ridiculous to think we'd be competitive in the first round against either boston or miami.
The trade would allow Gerald Henderson, who's showed promise and plays great D to get more minutes and evolve into a true starter. If we end up snatching a pick from portland then we could possible have a lottery pick and a late first rounder for the next draft.
I think MJ wants us to be a top 5 east team and thats not going to happen anytime soon with the current team.
All that said. I hate to see Gerald Wallace go. Give 'em hell in porland Crash!

You sir are wrong. He is almost 29. He is definately not heading into his prime. The way he has played so wrecklessly has caused him to age quicker than the average player. He has put his body through absolute hell. Similar to a running back in football. I have watched every Bobcats game since they came into the league in 04. I can tell you that he is not the same Gerald Wallace he was in the past. His game has diminished greatly. His knees are almost gone and his body has aged far beyond his age. He is still a very good player and brings great defense and toughness to any team.

well he is older than that, and has suffered numerous little injuries due to reckless play. He only has a few years left of high level play I would guess, and even this year he is down quite a bit.

Why would they trade Gerald Wallace? Are they getting Brandon Roy in return?

Why would the Bobcats want a broken Brandon Roy? This is a cost cutting move, not a move to vault them into the playoffs.

And I really think people are overrating Wallace a bit. He's already shown some decline this year. His numbers are down almost across the board, and most alarmingly, his FG% has dropped 5% to a shoddy 43%. He's just not the same Gerald Wallace, and quite frankly, I'm totally ok with this move by the Bobcats. I'd rather get rid of a guy a year early, than hold onto him and get an overpaid player who you can't get anything for a year later.

Well for the Blazers it's good regardless, I mean, they're getting one hell of a player who could definitely step in for Roy and do some work.

But for the Bobcats, I just don't see why they traded him. Sure it gives them more flexibility and whatnot but they just traded away their most attractive piece. Who would want to play for the Bobcats if you look at their roster without Wallace on it. I think it's a dumb move but time will tell.

If it was for Pryzbilla, picks and cash then it's not that bad at all, i'd take i if I was the owner. But for Andre Miller............... Hmmmm, just no.

ill believe wallace is trade to portland when i see it. wallace is obviously a great addition if it comes through, but the pg situation would become less stable if miller is involved. neither augustine (if in the deal) or mills will provide the same consistent play that miller does.

UPDATE: According to sources of CBS Sports' Ken Berger, Wallace is heading to Portland.

"Package for Wallace believed to be centered around Andre Miller," he added. "Marcus Camby was discussed, but he might retire rather than report to Charlotte."

ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard is calling the talks between the teams "serious" at this juncture.

---

There's been some chatter Gerald Wallace may get dealt by Thursday's deadline, as ESPN's Chad Ford reported the Bobcats have "aggressively courted the Mavericks, Rockets, Clippers, Pacers and Cavs."

There's also been talk of the Blazers.

As Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports tweeted earlier Wednesday: "Portland is pushing hard and getting closer to completing a deal with Charlotte for Wallace, a league source tells Y! Sports."

And now, according to Dwight James, Wallace is heading to Portland.

"Just got off the phone with an NBA source who says his team believes the Wallace-to-Portland deal is 'done,'" James tweeted Wednesday afternoon.

With Nicolas Batum already in at small forward for the Blazers -- an asset the Blazers were reluctant to part with when Denver tried to include him in a Carmelo Anthony deal -- it's not immediately clear what Wallace's role with the team would be. Though he could potentially be used in the team's frontcourt.

The fact that either Camby or Pryzbilla is involved makes me think that the Blazers see LaMarcus as more of a center. His play recently has shown this with his increased production around the basket. If that is the case I could see a starting lineup of LA/Wallace/Batum/Matthews/Roy.
Brandon Roy is listed as probable for tonight game vs the Lakers and a limited Roy plays more of a point guard position.

Agent Andy Miller says if Fernandez is put in the Charlotte deal he will ask for a buyout and Rudy will go back to Spain.

Miller says the deal with Charlotte is still alive, otherwise, "MJ was argumentative for no reason"
