there getting Gallo ): they should be happy. **** alls NJ is Irving and some FA's and there going to be a playoff team.

But its going to be exciting to have the Knicks and Nets a rival.

totally agreed.

nets will be fine. they'll move to brooklyn, eventually land a #1 pick or two, and are impervious to financial woes.

I don't feel bad for a team with Favors, Harris and Lopez, 4 first round picks coming up, a billionaire owner, and multi-millionaire partial owner. They have a bright future IMO.

It seems rough, but the Nets will be alright. Not worried one bit. Sure, it will be a long and tough road ahead, but everything will be alright, I have no doubt in my mind.

iggypop123

the wall thing basically killed them. thats the lottery. you can either become the spurs when tanking works or the celtics where you end up with the third pick and its a bust(when he played for them)

Why, they will better off in 2 years with those 4 picks and Favors than Melo.

hey congrats to knicks fans for getting melo i dc that we didnt get him but being a nets fan i can see us jus making our team even worse then it is somehow

If they didn't suck so bad, then Melo would have been a Net a few weeks ago.

It wouldn't have been a smart move on their part. Although it seemed they cared more about getting fans in the seats then building a team to win.

hugepatsfan
02-22-2011, 02:08 AM
That Travis Outlaw deal is a huge blunder for them. He kills some of their flexibility moving forward. I love what they've done in NJ, except for that.

i mean seriously who wants to play there though? even j kidd wanted to leave them

chuckdaily85
02-22-2011, 02:36 AM
ima Nets fan and I'll take all the pity in the world. I mean we win 12 games and the Wizards get the #1 pick, then we miss out on every single meaningful FA. Then we gather all these assets and give out the best deal possible for Den and Melo basically nixes our trade. I mean nobody wants to play here, we just cant cathc a f'n break. Now Devin wants out. WTF!!!!

JJ_JKidd
02-22-2011, 03:35 AM
They had their chance during the Kidd era. After that first Finals where they were owned by Shaq and the Lakers, they did not get an elite big. The next year, they again faced an elite big in the name of Tim Duncan. The year after that, the plans of moving into Brooklyn took the front seat and the move to improve the team further took a back seat.

I feel collectively bad for the T-Wolves, Raptors, 76ers, and Nets...

Perennially bad with no direction...

The 76ers are the only ones you can say should be better than they are... They are playing in one of the biggest markets and can't seem to get a superstar there...

Lim
02-22-2011, 06:56 AM
lebron was never going there

JayW_1023
02-22-2011, 07:00 AM
I don't. They are basically better off and have alot of cap space. Moving to Brooklyn makes them a player in the FA market.

if Derrick Favors developes into a nice defensive big they can use Lopez, aka the softest big man on earth, as a nice trading asset.

barreleffact
02-22-2011, 07:29 AM
I dont feel bad at all; it's a lottery not a right. Wall shouldnt be guaranteed to them just because they were terrible. They never had a real chance at lebron and melo never wanted to play for them. Its not like they were the clippers when they thought Brand was going to resign. The point is every team wants to have a big player.Would you have felt bad for the knicks for a decade of laughter and missing on Lebron if they had missed out on Melo as well? You cant. They have 5 picks to look forward to...one of which could be top 5.

All the nets need to do is pick a really cool name to go with Brooklyn, have a solid logo and they will come in flocks. Players will want to play there soon enough I guarantee.

Seems to me tht the Knicks gave up more in this deal because Prokhorov played his hand perfectly. Even after saying that they were standing pat and refusing to include Mozgov, they caved and even sprinkled a couple of seconds on top as a garnish. All because a team that had no shot at luring Anthony in the first place stood up and made a little noise.

If I'm a Knick fan, I can see Isiah's writing on the wall. I can see a team that not only plays bad defense, but will refuse to play defense. Come playoff time, if they make it, there will be no joy at the Garden.

NJ did well. They were very smart about pushing the Melo issue and forcing NY to gut their roster to land him. I honestly believe that as long as they have a good coaching situation, by this time nesxt year they will have a better record than NY.

ttam68
02-22-2011, 11:55 AM
They're better off.

Why overpay for an overrated scorer who doesn't want to be on your team. Melo and Brook Lopez aren't winning anything. I'm not even sure Melo and Amare will be enough to rise to the upper echelon of the conference.

If they can snag Gallinari in a cheap deal, that'd be a nice pickup.
