A couple weeks back Mark Cuban said he wouldnt mind 'renting' Melo for the remainder of the season because he beleived he coudl talk him into an extension. Dallas is one of the few teams that can offer a lot and still have a solid roster to compete with with (giving any combination of Terry, Marion Butler, Beaubois and Barea and Stojacovick and some draft picks would still leave them with a HOF PG, Dirk and a solid center rotation, and which ever guys dont get included could help fill out the roster).

Was Cuban full of $#!T when he mentioned this? Why has there been no rumours of a potential Mavs trade when they seem to have more to offer than anybody?

They are most likely on the very outside trying looking in (they have no chance) OR they will dupe us all with an out of nowhere deal. I will not take the latter.

Look at what the deals on the table are. Rent a player or not thats a huge price. They are unwilling to match or beat what the Nets and Knicks are willing to give up, its that simple.

They are on the outside looking in, and hoping the cloning of Dirk is on track
