Shawn Kemp comes to mind right away. I would say Dominique Wilkins too, but i think thats a stretch. This guy is a beast! Who does he remind you of?:eyebrow:

Quite honestly, Amare Stoudemire, except he will be much better. Griffin is a 10x better rebounder, a better defender (or will be), a much better passer and is more athletic. Griffin has potential to be an All Time great.

You dont know.

Griffin cant even be mentioned as an All Time Great until the Clippers actually start winning. That is what defines All Time Great players.

Maybe a young Kemp but not the allstar kemp. All Star Kemp had a hot jumper and he'll dunk on you from half court. If and when Blake gets a solid Jump/Set shot, queue the fat lady!!!

He doesn't have the open court and face up to the basket handle like Kemp, and doesn't have the jumper of Barkley.

Reminds me more of Grandma-ma (Larry Johnson) before the injuries. Both 1st overall picks, and rookie stats are near identical. Both a little undersized as well but 250lbs and muscle bound.

Kemp for sure.

Chronz
02-11-2011, 05:33 PM
Kemp is an iffy comparison, Kemp was a great defender but a blackhole offensively and I think a better Jumpshooter. Nique is a horrible comparison, I get that both dunk but thats where the comparison ends.

Chuck is a much better comparison because of their all around games

Chuck could also handle in the open court like a SF as well, just like Kemp. Both were more polished with the handle and jumpshooting than Blake right from the get go.

Nice you hit it right on the head, I was gonna say Kemp too. Ive never seen a big move or throw dunks down like him. He looks like a SF in a PF body. Hes fast quick got hops and he throws down vicious dunks.

I think Shawn Kemp is a very good example. Rainman with rebounds.

Chuck and Blake are similar with how they handle the ball and pass out of double teams, Kemp wasnt the coast to coast threat they were.

Its simple which PF could pass, handle and rebound and flush it in but werent dominant defenders. Chuck and Blake, the only real difference to Kemp is that he cant handle like them, couldnt rebound like them, couldnt pass like them, and was a better defender than them . Those are too many differences to say Kemp even though he could dunk

I'm sure people ask him: Are you going to be the next Michael Jordan? Are you going to be the next Dr. J? But he just says no, I'm going to be the first Harold Miner... er, I mean Blake Griffen.

I will pay him a high compliment and say that he is like no player I can personally think of. The dude had the leaping ability and athleticism of Vince Carter, the rebounding abilit of Garnett, he is already a great passer, and has a varied offensive arsenal.

Kemp is an interesting comparison, but I think a bit insulting in some respects.

Lets let him make his own name and not bother comparing him to anybody.

Athleticism, lack of defense, dunking ability. I agree that the comparison is not all that accurate, but it makes some sense.

yah... I'd say some kind of Lebron or something...

like a 6'9" Beefy Lebron + Xavier McDaniel hybrid, with some Kobe Bryant mixed in.

But yeah, he definitely has the Lebron 2.0 nextgen elevation and balance in the air.

Thats who I compared Blake to coming into the league but after watching him in the league, he's got the potential to be so much more. He possesses skills of various different big men. I really see him like a Charles Barkely in a Karl Malone body.

Shawn Kemp as a comparison probably underrates Blakes worth. The dude's going to be a near 30/15/5 type player, and has a competitive edge that you rarely see anymore.

I could expound for a while, but bottom line, the black/ginger will make his own mark on the league; he's a new breed.
