View Full Version : What team would trade for Haywood?

Tennessee Mav
02-09-2011, 12:12 PM
With the trade deadline just a little over 2 weeks to go until the trade deadline, there will be a lot of player movement going on. I know Haywood is not producing that great right now, but as a Starter he is a double-double guy. His contract is not terrible for a Starting Center. It is a 6-year deal for $55 million. So a little under $10 a year for a 31 year old Center. What teams would be interested in Haywood? What kind of offers could be made? Either just for Haywood, or also involving other players and draft picks.

Well yeah that's a pretty dumb team. Wouldn't be surprised if they trade for him but then again they already have Horford and Pachulia...

And from what I've heard he doesn't like coming off the bench that much soooo IDK.

Wrong side of 30 years old
Wrong side of $10 mil per year
Wrong side of 2 years remaining

^He'd have to satisfy 2 of those 3 for me to take him

no one... the Mavs are going to have to live with this horrible contract. Thats what you get for drastically overpaying for a guy...

yes...but those contracts were just exchanged for one another...

so if Dallas can find another over the hill guy making 50 mil over the next 5 years...then maybe they could make that trade... but in that case, they wouldn't be getting any better in the process.

The question was asked in a way that suggests that Haywood has some sort of value to someone... which at his age and with that contract is highly highly unlikely...

For instance... if he had 3/21 left on his deal... I would be all of over it for the HEAT

but that is not the case...

Haywood for Marvin Williams. The contract numbers work. Mavs get an underachieving SF and Hawks get an underachieving center.

The number of yrs he has is insane....on the other hand toronto has a 7 footer who is allergic to rebounds and defence with no backup, sad i wouldn't actually mind Haywood at this point lol

Like Barbosa, Evan, maybe Jose we will add in the off-season or maybe for a young guy that might be part of our future, but no way in hell for a 31 year old average at best center making around 9-10 million a year for 5 more years at the deadline in a season going nowhere. I'd rather go after a big during F.A.

Free agency is going to suck for us IMO ,we will end up way over paying for a C like Haywood ....ironic lol

That maybe true but I don't think so. Unless we give big money to M.Gasol, Perk or Tyson Chandler I don't think we sign any other C , BC would just be content with Bargnani at C or drafting a big. If Haywood had 2 maybe 3 years left I might look at him but as it is no ****ing way.

I just don't think Haywood fits in the Mavericks offense; I personally see him as a great asset for Denver.

- Haywood, Beaubois, Butler, & a 2011 1st rd pick for Harrington & Melo.

Nuggets Lineup:

C) Haywood/Anderson/Ely
PF) Nene/S.Williams/Forbes
SF) Butler/Balkman
SG) Jr Smith/Beaubois/Affalo
PG) Billups/Lawson/Carter

Mavs Lineup:

C) Chandler/Cardinal/Mahinmi
PF) Dirk/Harrington
SF) Melo/Marion/Peja
SG) Terry/Stevenson
PG) Kidd/Barea

The lakers,

Lakers trade Bynum for Melo

And

Artest for Haywood,

the mavs need a wing player and the lakers will need a center IF they trade bynum.

Melo + Haywood >>>>>>>>>>> Artest + Bynum

BUT it actually helps all teams, I HATE the lakers but they would be UNSTOPPABLE with that team

Fisher
Kobe
Melo
Gasol
Haywood

then 6th man/ all star caliber player Odom

That would be a dumb decision on his part. Why tie up so much money on 2 centers?

The last year of the contract is a team option for $11 million or something close to that. Similiar to the Dampier contract that landed Tyson chandler this past summer.

Still a terrible contract.

Ok the last year is worth $16 mil. So the deal is really a 5 year $39 million deal. That has a tiny bit more of a chance to get moved.

Still a terrible contract.

Lakeshow86

If his contract was shorter I thought the Lakers might if they do the Bynum Melo swap but since he has 6 years I say no way. What were they thinking? Its just like the Walton 6 year deal with the Lakers. Haywood I would pay no more than 4 million per year on a 4 year contract.

that, good sir, is the problem. brendan heywood is an imposter as a starter. he posted a decent season last year so he could get a fat contract. his is one of the more toxic contracts in the league.
