There have been talks between the Lakers and Nuggets. In fact, the Lakers declined to continue an informal discussion of Anthony for Pau Gasol, opting to keep the All-Star that helped them win consecutive championships instead of potentially bringing aboard a different one, though there was never anything officially on the table.

Of course they shouldn't. I don't think anymore needs to be said.

trade one of your stars from back to back championship teams...where are they pulling this ******** out of now? it's honestly gotten to/past the point of absurdity.

kobe 4 melo???

:puke: Why would this even be an option? Bynum for Melo is bad enough. Pau for him would be down right ludicrous.

Obviously not. I wouldn't be open for that trade even if Nene came with him.

Why doesn't the Denver FO call Miami asking if Wade or James are available??

This is getting ridiculous.

I find it hard to believe actually..

Apparently the Lakers rejected a Melo for Bynum deal.. why would they even think the Lakers would accept a trade involving Pau if that's the case..?

next thing we're gonna hear is the nuggets are begging the nets to get back into trade talks.

I will say it again: Melo doesn't want to go to the Nets, therefore Nets had no choice but to back out. In fact Denver wants to trade him there.

Not really news worthy. Nuggets offered a lopsided trade offer and Lakers said no.

Dont know why there was a meeting set up then.

are people serious about not wanting Melo and Nene for Pau or Bynum?

1. Pau is 30. Carmelo 26, Nene 28.

2. The Lakers kinda look like they're done, so they need to shake it up.

3. This trade bridges the gap of "Kobe era" and the "who knows what happens next era"

4. Melo and Nene for Bynum would be great for Lakers even more so.

I don't understand why people are saying the Lakers shouldn't do that.
Could someone explain please instead of just saying "HELL no" and crap

All this is is the Nuggets playing poker with the Knicks. Trying to get them to up their ante.

to start a franchise no, to build a contender for a season probably, especially considering the laker roster. melo is redundant with kobe.

moreso, though, its the fact that gasol was a huge contributor to three straight nba finals appearances, as the old saying goes if it aint broke dont fix it. obviously the lakers are struggling a bit right now, but you can't blow up a core that successful until it falls apart imo.

I hope they just give him away to the lakers with nothing in return. Then I can really be sick of the knicks fans and their rich kid crying attitudes. :D

Obviously.
In the past years Nuggets have been one tough team to defeat by lakers, and it has only been done because of the difference of having a taller frontcourt.
Its not a given Melo+kobe would work well, and you are giving up one of the memebrers of the forontcourt.
<They would look stupid if they hit thetrigger and then Billups and Pau brought them down in the playoffs.

I wouldn't give up Pau for him neither, but Bynum on the other hand. Do it no doubt.

ohhh man Pau has lost his competitiveness after the last 2 rings and he's playing like a puss. I would do Carmelo for Gasol straight up

Well I mean is this really a surprise? Good move by the Lakers because Gasol has been a key piece to their recent success.

Maybe Denver was taking into consideration what the lakers gave up to get Gasol in the first place.

In exchange Memphis will receive forward Kwame Brown, guard Javaris Crittenton, guard Aaron McKie,the draft rights to Marc Gasol and first round picks in 2008 and 2010.

They figured that Carmelo is worth more than that, therefore the lakers would trade Gasol for Melo.
