I think this is a good tool here. It is a shame they started separating into Eastern and Western Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month though.

I think it is interesting Duncan won League MVP in 2003, and never even won Player of the Month just for the Western Conference. Same thing for Nash in 2006. Also Magic won MVP in 1989 and didnt win Player of the Month any month that season. Same for Bird in 1984.

I find it kinda funny how Kobe won it almost every year during the Shaq/Kobe finals runs. To hear the haters talk you would think Kobe wasn't a major contributor on those teams.....

there is a clear difference between saying Shaq was alpha dog, and then there is the one where Kobe totally rode him to 3 rings. The latter should just be passed by without a reply, since its a ridiculous statement.

^Very true, Shaq was the man. I just think people often overlook that for different stretches over that time Kobe was the dominating player on the team. Especially when Shaq was playing himself into shape or taking the usual routine time off for "injuries."

But for Kobe to get it all during that time when Duncan, KG, Sheed and C Webb were really at their primes is pretty impressive in itself....

Kobe should easily be player of the month.

I think Blake takes both POM/ROM for January.
