If I were the Grizz Id find a way to make it happen, trade Mayo+Gasol for Bynum and Brown. The Lakers get worse and the Grizz make the playoffs, BRILLIANT

Stop posting these ******** misleading threads. Show me a link or a quote that says Lakers want Mayo. Oh that's right, you can't. That's because Kupchak is not stupid enough to discuss these things until something happens.

Stop this "rumor" twitter B.S. please.

This will not happen. For this trade to go down, the lakers would need to trade the grizzlies kwame brown again and the gun that gilbert arenas showed jarvis crittenton

It is funny how things work. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Lakers land Mayo. They have the assets easily to do it, just look at the roster. So many scenarios on how to not just get him, but rape the Grizzlies again in getting him.

OJ Mayo starting at PG in the triangle offense playing in the same backcourt as Kobe Bryant

A big PG, Jackson use Ron Harper in the same fashion with the Bulls

Watch him become the next Kobe in 3 years if this happens.

It will speed up the process no doubt. OJ seeing Kobe's insane work ethic. Being able to be sparring partners with him in the weight room and on the court. Will only make him better and reach his ceiling. Being part of a winning environment, seeing all those championship banners on the rafters.

OJ right now associates himself with Darius Miles and Zach Randolph of all people. All OJ needs is a kick in ***, and will see so much success team and individual wise and Kobe will give that too him.

too bad he's a SG

Combo Guard,

but lets just play along with the SG idea.

It is well known that the Triangle System doesn't require your protypical PG. Meaning there isn't a lot of pick and roll play. The ball isn't being dominated by a sole guy like in a 1-4 high set, which a team like Wizards do with John Wall.

The Triangle offense stresses ball movement, and post play in both the high and low post, mixed in with never ending cutting ( something Lamar Odom does so well ) . This is why there hasn't been a player to average 7 or more assists per game in that system since Scottie Pippen in 1992 I think.

Therefore you really don't need a protypical PG. In fact, it seems to work at its best when there is a bigger player playing the point guard role. Ron Harper 6'6 SG in his prime, transformed into that role nicely as the starting PG in the Bull's second 3 peat.

OJ would have a similar role if he played with the Lakers, but Ron Harper never once had OJ's shotmaking ability or range..... Not even close to OJ's.

this, he would not be asked to perform the duties of your normal point guard. would obviously be a fantastic fit for the lakers but they'll have to offer up bynum for starters.
