Chris Duhon (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/psl_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&type=totals&per_minute_base=36&lg_id=NBA&is_playoffs=N&year_min=2011&year_max=2011&franch_id=&season_start=1&season_end=-1&age_min=0&age_max=99&height_min=0&height_max=99&birth_country_is=Y&birth_country=&is_active=&is_hof=&pos=&qual=&c1stat=mp_per_g&c1comp=gt&c1val=15&c2stat=per&c2comp=gt&c2val=&c3stat=ws_per_48&c3comp=gt&c3val=&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&c5stat=&c5comp=gt&c6mult=1.0&c6stat=&order_by=per&order_by_asc=Y)

Joel Anthony.

He has one NBA talent: lateral speed for pick-n-roll coverage. Which doesn't matter because he gambles for blocks which results in offensive rebounds and second chances for the opponent.

Other than that, he's a liability on offense and his stat line is a row of zeros except for the bad fouls that he picks up.

Joel Anthony gives you one of these about once a month. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2akdYIFJ2A

No team in the NBA would sign him if he were a FA today.

The Collins brothers at least have size. And for all the great things Joel Anthony is good at, you couldn't even name one.

He's a good defender, blocks shots, covers ground well, rotates quickly, solid man-on-man defender, sets good screens. All aspects of the game that the Collins brother fail to even attempt to show that they are capable of performing. Sure he's horrendous offensively but he's certainly more valuable that guys such as Mbenga, Ajinca, Collins (both) etc etc etc even given the fact that they have size.

While he's the worst C in the NBA in terms of PER among all C's that have played in 15 or more games with an average of 15 or more minutes

http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/psl_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&type=totals&per_minute_base=36&lg_id=NBA&is_playoffs=N&year_min=2011&year_max=2011&franch_id=&season_start=1&season_end=-1&age_min=0&age_max=99&height_min=0&height_max=99&birth_country_is=Y&birth_country=&is_active=&is_hof=&pos=C&qual=&c1stat=g&c1comp=gt&c1val=15&c2stat=mp_per_g&c2comp=gt&c2val=15&c3stat=&c3comp=gt&c3val=&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&c5stat=&c5comp=gt&c6mult=1.0&c6stat=&order_by=per

He's in the middle of the pack in terms of defensive win shares. Better than Marcin Gortat, Deandre Jordan, Samuel Dalembert and Brendan Haywood. All guys who are known for their defense.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/psl_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&type=totals&per_minute_base=36&lg_id=NBA&is_playoffs=N&year_min=2011&year_max=2011&franch_id=&season_start=1&season_end=-1&age_min=0&age_max=99&height_min=0&height_max=99&birth_country_is=Y&birth_country=&is_active=&is_hof=&pos=C&qual=&c1stat=g&c1comp=gt&c1val=15&c2stat=mp_per_g&c2comp=gt&c2val=15&c3stat=&c3comp=gt&c3val=&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&c5stat=&c5comp=gt&c6mult=1.0&c6stat=&order_by=dws

he's also middle of the pack in WS/48

Do you still need reasoning or do you rather a player who is 3 inches taller and has one of the worst TRB percentages of all time for a 7 footer?

Anthony Carter- i have been saying he is terrible forever now, but he manages to stay in the league

Dan Gadzuric- Hes not the worst (he does okay on D and can grab some boards) but he has no offensive game at all. He will never dunk and he misses all of his layups.

Defensively, he gambles for blocks, so that means a lot of second chances for the other team. He also picks up cheap, bad fouls. The Knicks can't handle that kind of adversity. Few teams can.

Nope. He just sucks.

Said once, will say it again.

Alexis Ajinca or Jaron Collins. Can't go wrong there.

I know he sucks but I thought this was pretty interesting.

Collins and his twin brother, Jason Collins, graduated from Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles, California. Jarron shot 72 percent from the floor and averaged 13.8 points and 9.2 rebounds during his senior year in high school, breaking the 31-year California rebounding record with over 1,500.

Thats what generally happens when you are a 7 footer for the majority of your time playing HS ball.

Oh God...

#1 lowest PER among players averaging 15+ minutes...so we're talking guys who actually play.

Chris Duhon (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/psl_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&type=totals&per_minute_base=36&lg_id=NBA&is_playoffs=N&year_min=2011&year_max=2011&franch_id=&season_start=1&season_end=-1&age_min=0&age_max=99&height_min=0&height_max=99&birth_country_is=Y&birth_country=&is_active=&is_hof=&pos=&qual=&c1stat=mp_per_g&c1comp=gt&c1val=15&c2stat=per&c2comp=gt&c2val=&c3stat=ws_per_48&c3comp=gt&c3val=&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&c5stat=&c5comp=gt&c6mult=1.0&c6stat=&order_by=per&order_by_asc=Y)

Bogans is #2.

Remember me warning you Orlando signing Duhon for any amount of money and any amount of time was a terrible deal. Well yeah, here we are :laugh2:

Duhon isnt the worst.
Not taking a lot of shots and not getting many rebounds as a PG is nothing horrible and doesnt make you the worst player in the game.

He's a good defender, blocks shots, covers ground well, rotates quickly, solid man-on-man defender, sets good screens. All aspects of the game that the Collins brother fail to even attempt to show that they are capable of performing. Sure he's horrendous offensively but he's certainly more valuable that guys such as Mbenga, Ajinca, Collins (both) etc etc etc even given the fact that they have size.[/url]I can only handle replying to so much, so I'll just address this part of your post:

Good shot blocker? He gambles for blocks and there's consequences for doing that. People wonder why Miami has defensive rebounding issues and they don't see the correlation of their rebounding woes and Joel playing 30 + minutes.

Good man-to-man defender? The opposition is always - always - looking to post him up and, yes, they score over him.

His screens are not good; they're half ---'d a lot of the times and thus not fully effective. The Heat often have to reset their pick-n-roll because Joel couldn't get it right the first time.

Covers ground and rotates well? I agree, and I summed it up as PnR coverage. That's one NBA talent he has that everyone can agree on.

The NBA is all about consistency, and Joel only does one good thing consistently (PnR coverage).

Source: 3 years of watching Joel Anthony play.

I find it strange that you reply to this post and not mine from earlier. I thought you were up for a debate.

To your point about him gambling for blocks, Marcus Camby, Javale McGee, Serge Ibaka, Chris Andersen etc all "gamble" for blocks. Doesn't make them bad players. IF the "gamble" pays off it works greatly in the Heat's favour. Only difference is those guys are able to recover better than Anthony on the defensive glass. He's still more valuable than other players who give you nothing on the defensive end and close to nothing on offense.

When you reply to the other half of the post and give good factual reasoning as to why he still performs decently on D then you can I would be willing to accept your argument.

You say he gambles on blocks as if that is a bad thing. Are you seriously going to tell me that he is a good man to man defender. C'mon dude be serious. He is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the Collins', Kritsic, Eddy Curry, Bargnani etc etc and they are have size on him. He actually tries on defense and that itself is better than some players who don't even try at all.

You said the NBA is all about consistency but Joel has been able to consistently stay among the league leaders in blocks per 48 mins. That right there shows you that in some regard he is good for something.

Now tell me what has Alex Ajinca, Jason/Jarron Collins, Brian Cardinal etc have been able to do consistently.

And you said your source is 3 years of watching Joel play well maybe if you watched some of the other players being mentioned a bit more you'd really start to appreciate Anthony's worth on defense a lot more.

That commentator is confused.chuck hayes imho(no homer) is one of the more underrated players in this league.if miami had chuck hayes they might be better off. If only for his height he'd be alot better and is very short for the post at only 6'6".

Lighten up pal, it's just the Internet.

I was gonna say Josh Boone but he apparently isn't in the NBA anymore. Dude had a higher airball % than FT %

So now I'll go with Luke Walton. He's as importent to the Lakers as the chair he sits on during the games.
