Lee has a 6 year 80 mil dollar Contract and is the 3rd option on the team. Did Golden State Over pay ?

He hasnt been the same since his injury, He looks like he is getting back to form. But yes they did overpay a little bit, I think he will be a conisitnce 20 and 10 guy for 3 of those years at least.

Did they overpay?

Yes.

We Knicks fans would have loved to keep him. In the end, though, 6 years and 80 million was way too much. We always wanted him at 8 million per. I think he deserved 6 years/$60 million or 5 yrs/$50 millio.

But whatever. Tons of teams had cash left over and it needed to be spent.

Wasn't NY the one that signed him to the contract b4 the Warriors traded for him?

David Lee is not even worth 10 mil.

It's called a sign and trade.

I forgot that he was even in the NBA haha. Kinda fell off the map when he left NY.

6yr/$66M should have been his max offer.

And what does that tell you? Players worths are often inflated playing in that market (I'm looking at you - everyone who considers Amare an MVP candidate).

Lee had some troubles coming back after snaggle-tooth nearly infected his arm to death, but he's been solid for GS. The team's 1-8 without him, and now over .500 with him. He has great value for us. Given the market demands and the extremely limited All-Star caliber players that were up to play in GS, the pay is fine.

I've seen more threads about Lil' B than threads about David Lee. Funny thing is that David Lee is good at what he does.

How bad was the injury? Wilson Chander needs to brush his teeth or use a mouthguard.

He's overpaid and overrated. I think the Warriors should trade him to the Thunder. ;)

With Curry/Ellis chocking 40 shots a game ... it so hard for smb else on that team to put 20 points + Biedrinis is back and also "steals" some boards(cause on the Knicks Lee was the only one rebounding).
When you look at it this way, it`s kinda easy to find why his numbers are down.
PS: also add his injury and the new system/team.

Eh...if we didn't have Ellis he'd be putting up the same stats he was in NY. He might be slightly overpaid, but when you look at what other players got - mainly Amare at 20mil/year average, it's not bad. Amare has been have a phenomenal season, but normally Lee wouldn't be THAT far off from his production, and both of them play pretty poor defense.

I remember a few Bulls fans wanted him over Boozer. I think he is overpaid, but nearly every decent NBA player is these days.
