View Full Version : What player can put your team over the hump at mid-season?

I was thinking of two mid-season trades that changed teams around and made them instant contenders:

1. Rasheed Wallace trade to Pistons on feb 19th 2004 made them an instant contender and pistons went on to win a championship that same year.

2. Pau Gasol trade to LA on Feb 3rd 2008 made them contenders. Although they didn't win it all that year they went to the finals and they have won 2 titles from that trade

Can you think of a single player that your team can acquire this mid-season who would put your team over the hump?

I agree. your team is a good shooting guard away from being a serious contender.

I think Mayo will def. get moved...I'd like to see him end up in Chicago tho I don't know what Memphis would want in return from Chicago.

A shut-down wing defender, and an offensive-minded assistant coach...to act like an offensive coordinator to Stan's defensive greatness.

Tyson Chandler, DeAndre Jordan, Nene. A big body that can bang in the post and finish at the basket on a consistent basis.

Since we're talking about only one player, Melo for my Knicks. I don't know if they become true contenders immediately, but they'd be much closer.

For the Spurs I would love for them to bring back S-Jax, pipedream would be Gerald Wallace or Shane Battier.

Big men- Marc Gasol or Kevin Love would be great! Not to many shot blocking big men out there.

Wallace would be sick on the Spurs, especially since they're playing at a faster pace this season.

As a Utah fan of all the spots we need I'd like to see us get Melo if he could move to the 2 guard him and d-will would be awesome together and a starting 5 of Jefferson-Milsap-Kirilenko-Melo-Williams.

Not sure if he could make the transition but it certainly wouldnt be the hardest position change by any means. No way this happens though
