LMAO - Here is my thought.
But seriously, how can he be an MVP or even in top 10 MVP race if his team is barely above .500?

Because without him the Knicks would be nowhere near 500.

Are you saying at no point this season he wasn't deserving of MVP consideration? Since he and the Knicks have both cooled he has free fallen but he was absolutely beasting earlier and leading the Knicks like a true MVP.

Actually I was putting him at the top of MVP race when he was beasting, but right now he is nowhere near to be the MVP. You can't be an MVP if your team is 2 games over .500

bosh won 40 games last year i guess if he was healthy and got those few extra wins he should have won mvp.

He still MVP material, maybe Top 8 or 9.

Not at all.

Rose, LeBron, Dwight, Paul, Kobe, Deron, Wade and Dirk all are ahead of him IMO.

The Knicks will need the 4 seed or better for him to win. That just won't happen, since Boston, Miami, Orlando, Chicago and Atlanta are all far superior teams.

The Knicks will heat up again and end the season with a very respectable record. A great number of people chose the Knicks to not even make the playoffs and a few weeks ago, they were battling for the 5th spot.
Amare is playing great basketball and deserves recognition as MVP.

They won't.

They don't play defense, their two best players are logging huge minutes (both in top 12 in terms of minutes played), and they have little depth. Those three things matter a lot over an 82 game season.

The only thing that will get them close to that 5th spot is the division they play in...and the subsequent ease of their schedule.

No. His team is only a couple games over .500.

Dwight is the only guy on his team to play defense, what's your point?

Honestly, I'd much rather stick to the 6th seed and knock the Bulls out come playoffs.

He came back down to Earth and teams are focusing even more on him. It also hurts that Wilson has cooled down a bit and Felton is in a slump.

Amar'e was the MVP for the early half of the season but others have easily over taken him as of now.

While Amar'e has cooled off (mostly due to playing a ridiculous amount of minutes), I'd say Rose, Paul, Dirk are clearly more deserving than Amar'e. The rest I think he's still in contention with.

Still???? Haha he never was n probably won't be.. There r so many factors to consider when winning a MVP.. A top team league record, amazing stats, teammates, n on top of all that u have to out perform every other great player

MVP is overrated due to the meaningless regular season.. For example Kobe has won it once but doesn't mean he wasn't considered the best player throughout the other years cuz he was n still is in most people opinions

Dirk sits in a good situation to win this year

my pick from the start of the season has been Derrick Rose tho, at the time a long shot to win but now has a legitimate chance of winning

Amare was the midpoint mvp but derrick rose is 100 percent goin take it unless amare and the knicks finish real strong whick i think we can but we would have hit 50 win mark.

i definitely think he's in the conversation. but the team has to win at a better pace to be considered a front runner.

If he turns it up again like earlier in the season then he could be in the conversation, but right now I'd put rose at the top

He's sliding out of the race. The Knicks can't be hovering around .500 for him to still have a chance.

Burkey3472
01-30-2011, 04:20 PM
No. He needs his team needs to finish in the top 4 to get consideration.

bulldog312
01-30-2011, 04:22 PM
Haha, no, not a chance. His numbers aren't the best in the league and his team is barely above .500.

Edit: I don't believe that his team has to have a certain record or anything. But if they are only near .500 it means he has to very clearly have the best numbers in the game. And that isn't the case.
