I went with Boston, when healthy. I wouldn't bet against the Heat, cuz when they're healthy, watch out. However, I've also seen how good Boston is in the playoffs and the Lakers are the two-time champs. They should be the favorites, 'til they're knocked off of course.

Theyve also started to show health issues. Its been shown that Miami has difficulty winning when Bosh/or Wade are down. Where as the Celtics have guys go down and they can just plug someone in and keep winning. Miami really has no room fo error.

Celtics will be looking to avenge the loss in the Finals and they are the deepest team in the NBA. Celtics will come out of the East. No east team has the depth of bigs to compete with them. Chi town is close but after Noah and Boozer its a huge drop off

wow dude, you have said the same thing 3 times already! Who cares about the pool? Pool is always about the homers. Just read what people are saying. I think most people are saying Spurs are on the teams. But Boston has far more chance to win it all than the Celtics and you can't blame people for picking the celtics.

ChiSoxJuan
01-29-2011, 06:17 PM
The poll assumes all teams healthy & players play their best, so it's got to be Heat. The best SF, an all-star Big, & the best closer/streak scorer in the NBA. The rest of the squad plays defense like the old Pistons. Lethal combination.

The Hornets could surprise. CP3 is the best PG/shooter in the NBA & he's developing into a nice closer. It's a very good defensive team & they are well-disciplined on offense. They don't give games away.

The Celtics have the best shot if healthy, but I just don't think that is realistic with their age. I honestly think the Spurs are the best team in the league. They will have to get back to playing a top 3 defense, but with their offense playing much better this season, they are going to be tough to beat.

Obviously Miami is in the discussion, as are the Lakers. But I think the Spurs win the finals over Boston. My opinion could change after the next 38 games however.

TylerSL

IMO this is the order I would say

1.Heat-I know I probably sound like a homer, but Miami has the best 2 players in the league, and still have time to get it right.

2.Spurs-They are on pace to win 70 games, absolutley amazing. Who would have thought this team had this much left?

3.Celtics-They are just a crazy good team, and unless injury, they WILL make the ECF as a #2-#3 seed. Quote me on that.

4.Lakers-They upgraded there roster over last year, and they still have Kobe.

5.Dallas-This team is scary when healthy. If Caron Butler wasnt out for the year, I would have this team 4 and the Lakers 5, but that is not the case, but Dallas is still a very scary team and a sleeper that should not be taken lightly in the Western Conference by the Spurs or Lakers.

Crackadalic

If they are healthy, Boston has the best chance to win and collect banner #18. I like Miami and Chicago out of the east if Boston isn't the representative. Out west, Spurs are obviously a dangerous team and I can't say LA won't win the west again until someone actually beats them in a best of 7. And if OKC and Dallas make deals for another big and another scorer to go with Dirk respectively, then those two would give the Lakers and Spurs a run in the west.

I'm going with what I said last year before the Finals and am picking the Celtics vs Lakers again. They are still the most feared teams come playoff time. And I have it as a toss up. Anyone can win.

Heat still haven't shown me they can play an offensive set in the half-court. 1-8 in games decided by 5 points or less further proves it as playoff games are won by grinding it out in the latter stages.

Mavs- no comment :)

Spurs- Third best pick and they can for sure make the Finals. But I still question the their bigs sans Duncan. With Bynum back in full throttle and the rest of the Lakers bigs, it will just be too much.

But whatever its all good.

The bulls having more votes really doesnt mean much other than they have more fans roaming around.

The poll isnt "what team has the 4th best chance of winning the title"
so the secondary numbers might look fishy.

LOL I love ignorant posters calling out other posters who call out other posters when they know they are wrong. In your sig it says 1 + 3 x 6. You learn in second grade math that multiplication comes before addition when calculating unless otherwise specified by parentheses. So this is the order of the math in your signature. 3 x 6 = 18. 18 + 1 = 19. If your signature was like this it wuld make sense: (1 + 3) x 6. Then it would be 1 + 3 first since it is in parentheses, which would give you 4 in case you can not do addition either. After you get 4 you multiply by 6 giving you 24.

No I feel ya man, your right. I'm literally LOL right now with all this elementary math stuff.

You never know. He could have just forgotten the parenthesis, considering it makes sense when you put them in there. Just as you have forgotten that "your" should be "you're".

Lakers all the way. MR bean will be clutch once again and with healthy Gasol Odom and Bynum, a threepeat is well possible. You know their opponent can only be the Celtics.

Favorites definitely not making the NBA Finals this year:
Heat: Leblanc James will be served. I just don't want these guys to make it to the NBA Finals. I'm pretty sure most of the NBA fans will be very exited if the heat Treo get demolished in the playoffs. Plus they are not a deep team, other than the Treo who is their savouir loll Mike Miller
Knicks please even if they get Mello they still wont make it. They are just two games over .500 and people expect them to get to the Finals loll.

Dark-horses to make the Finals:
Spurs : A good all rounded team
Bulls: Boozer, Rose, Noah, Deng spell a nightmare to guard.

lol...Ok. If you had read through the thread, you might have noticed that I was the one who first pointed out that the parentheses were missing. You got me, I should have wrote you're and not your. I would say this too, but we both know that Wade and LeBron have another gear in the playoffs. I still wouldn't bet aganist the HEAT. I have seen this team when Wade, Bosh and LeBron are healthy.

i've never seen lebrons other gear in the playoffs... i've only seen him quit

Who haven't watched LeBron much then. He does have a second gear in the playoffs, until Boston shut him down pretty good.

I say the Spurs not because of their great record, but cause they havent even peeked yet which is the scary part. To start the season, they were scoring and giving up a ton of points. Now over the last month and a half, they have slowly crept up in terms of points allowed which is now right around 96.5. I think it's pretty amazing for Pop to allow these guys to shift gears like that. Anyone who watches knows they are not like the phoenix suns of old, cause they usually slow down the pace in the 2nd half and teams have a hard time adjusting. I think they are very deep and each night 5 or 6 guys are in double figures. They have the chemistry, talent, shooting, and they're starting to play great team defense.

That said, as of right now, they seem like the best fit to win it all. Theyve been fortunate with no injuries to their starters (Hill, Bonner, Anderson) have all missed time with injuries. Bench injuries can be just as tough cause you rely on guys to come off the bench and provide that spark.

This could all change especially after this rodeo road trip. I of course am probably a little biased, but as of right now I don't see how they aren't viewed as best to win it all cause as others have said if this were the heat, celtics, or lakers were 40-7 folks would just be handing them the larry o'brien trophy.
