not only in nba all star voting, but for all sports all star voting. if you are 8 and going to sit here and vote for favorites, instead of actuall people who deseve it. then your vote should not count any way.

I agree Yao Ming should NOT be starting the All Star Game they should have 40% fan vote and 60% coaches vote

Believe me... having Yao start is a good thing. Now they can start a PF (since Cs in West suck). Dirk Nowitzki should get the nod. Or I guess you rather have Bynum actually play in it.

I dont think its a solution to take the fan out of the vote, because it is the fans that make the NBA possible. I would suggest that the NBA can disallow votes to players who are injured or have barley played this season. Now the whole "faded superstars that get voted in" is a whole different story...

i voted for yao ming because all the centers are not worthy of starting in the west, and since yao ming is hurt they will just fill his spot with a worthy PF

This, I'd give the nod to Griffin though, the fans want to see him though he is a rookie.

You cant just remove Fan voes. Its An arbitrary game that doesnt mean anything. And its called the all STAR game. What makes someone a star is people are interested in seeing u.

I'd be alright with a weighted system. Fans, players, HCs, and maybe GMs decide. Have the fans vote be worth more than the others, like 51%. That way they still have majority control, but it hopefully prevents more Yao scenarios.

IMO I think they should do what the NHL is doing this year, how could the teams get any more even?? Kobe Vs LeBron and they just pick the best players players possible with their picks then the teams get evened up real nice. Or maybe since Kobe is getting a little older have Durant vs LeBron I dont really care

David Stern realizes that China is the world's biggest market and doesn't want to take out their biggest basketball Frankenstein conceived thus far.

I'd rather vote for who I want to see rather than who deserves it the most.. There's a reason fans choose the starters, while the coaches choose the reserves.

The all star game is more of a popularity contest. It's not really based off of performance, which is sad, I'm not so sure it will change anytime soon.

I think the nba wants to get fans involved, thats why they let him vote. I think the NBA realize that if Yao didnt start, that he would not play, and the NBA cant aford to loose an hole countrys fanhood over a player who will be replaced anyway.

Name a Western Conference center that deserved it?

You fail to realize that now Yao Ming has won the starting spot, David Stern gets to pick the replacement who can be a DESERVING Western conference PF (since there are so many of them).

So now, deserving guys like Kevin Love, Zach Randolph, etc. who play on bad teams have a better chance of making it.
