http://www.lithuaniabasketball.com/news-517-amateur-player-attempts-124-three-pointers-in-a-single-game.html

Lithuanians proved that amateur basketball can be just as exciting as the professional sport in somewhat bizarre circumstances. Rolandas Dovydaitis put on a real show for the small number of spectators, who gathered to watch an amateur league game in Kaunas, setting the country’s world record for most three-point shots attempted in a single game.

The record was broken by a country mile as the player jacked up an astonishing 124 attempts from beyond the three-point line, making 24 of the shots. Even such a circus couldn’t stop Rolandas Dovydaitis and his team from winning as they still triumphed 103-70 in the end.
“Last game our opponents let us shoot wide-open three-pointers. We gave it a little thought and wondered why a single player couldn’t do all of that alone. If our opponents allow me to shoot more than 70 three-pointers, I should be in the record books after the end of the game,” Dovydaitis said just before the tip-off of the game.

At first, the gag wasn’t going all that well, as Dovydaitis missed his first 19 shots, but the Lithuanian managed to get back on track and even had a run of eight consecutive shots made from beyond the arc at one point in the game. What’s even more remarkable, his teammates amassed a total of 108 rebounds, a key factor to the player’s success.

Despite collecting a total of 73 points, Dovydaitis managed to get a total efficiency ranking of minus-30, mostly due to a hundred missed three-pointers.

“My goal was to score twenty out of a hundred, but what’s most important is that I broke the record,” said the new record holder, who has set a mark, which will be hard to beat.

Got to love that defense. I can just imagine at the 124th shot one of the players saying "I dare you to take another three. I bet you wont do it and I know you dont have it in you." Lol at the player saying all that matters is the record. What about winning. Not to mention with his 19% shooting and missing his 1st 17 shots the team still believes his the best shooter they have. I suck at shooting threes but if I chucked up 127 id probably make 20 or 25, although my arms would get tired :laugh2:

I'd love to see video of this game, because this is amazing. You know this guy had to be absolutely hell-bent on breaking the number of 3s a game, because you simply don't take seventeen, miss them, and then shoot over a hundred more to end up only hitting .19 of those shots.

ragee

Impossible, not enough time for 124 shots by a single individual in a game.

He's their best shooter, they run the offense through him so he gets a lot of looks.

Also, in Lithuanian basketball, the games are 200 minutes. There is also a rule, which states, that if the shooter misses and the ball goes out of bounds without touching another player or one of the 7 officials, if the ball touches a goat or a chicken then the player gets the ball back at the same spot. Also, if the player banks in the 3 pt shot, it is called a "grakamanovo" and he automatically gets the ball back for anothe possession, and 20 seconds is added to the shot clock.

I looked this up on wikipedia, and the guy who took the 124 shots was actually a player who had sever autism syndrome, and was terrified of the basketball. If he touched the basketball he would scream and throw/kick the ball across the court, thinking it would bite him. The controversy was that, not only was a mentally disabled person playing, but also that at half time and after the game, the players teammates all beat him with belts and spit on him saying (in Lithuanian) "you are a ****** and you have failed!" Some of the video clips of the game show the player laying on the court in the fetal position screaming after throwing the ball across the court

it has to be 40 minute game what's an european standard... which makes it more unbelievable.

but, you can get that number... 5-6 shots per possesion, quick rebounds as there probably were almost no defense (defensive rebounding as well)...
