View Full Version : Melo gives thoughts on Lebron's decision and the way he did it.

Carmelo Anthony describes his in-limbo situation as "complicated," but at least one aspect is simple: He learned a lesson about how not to leave his team from LeBron James.

"I would never go about it the way LeBron did it," the Denver Nuggets' three-time All-Star forward told Sports Illustrated Senior Writer Ian Thomsen in an exclusive interview for a story in the Jan. 24 issue of the magazine, which will be available on newsstands Wednesday.

"If he could do it all over again, he wouldn't do it that way -- he would do it a totally different way, I can guarantee you that," added Anthony, who said he talks to James and fellow NBA stars Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade regularly.

SI reported that as recently as last spring Anthony seemed likely to sign a contract extension with Denver but that by August he had asked to be traded to the Knicks or Chicago Bulls. The trade request, issued during a meeting with Nuggets president Josh Kroenke in Baltimore, came shortly after Anthony's July wedding to LaLa Vasquez in New York. At the reception, according to SI, before Paul made his infamous toast about one day joining Carmelo and Amar'e Stoudemire in New York to form a Big Three to rival the Heat's, LeBron addressed attendees and drew laughs when he said to Anthony, "If you want any chance against us in Miami, you'd better team up with Stoud in New York."

if they aren't close friends then why does he talk to James on the regs?
you literally just cherry picked random statements and made something up in order to create a thread.

Give me a a break. Is this seriously news/discussion worthy. This is so stupid.
Next thing I am going to see under the top 10 discussions will probably be "Lebron has a new cat" or "Lebron goes to a Jay-Z concert" Nobody care about Lebron's life that much.

Please post things that are news worthy. good god

Not thread worthy. At least not in regards to the title. Nowhere in the article does is surmise that LeBron and Carmelo aren't freinds. Very misleading.

Nothing in the part you bolded says anything about Lebron and Carmelo not being friends.

All he said was that he wouldn't go vie "The Decision" route. Which no player probably will after the criticism Lebron got. So that clears that.

And the other part was a harmless joke. He was just poking fun at him.

Its like the two best player at the park that everyone know is friends, so they are always on oppsite teams cause thats fair. Wasnt Lebron on his way to college for one year ( big east to boot ) if Melo would have stayed but they are good friends.

Based on what I heard, LeBron had his posse at the olympics (Wade, Bosh, CP3) while Carmelo mostly hung out with Kobe. I can't vouch for how true that is, but it's what I've read several times.

If anything, they focused a lot of the trio of Melo, Wade and LBJ and how they would be leading team USA in the next Olympics.

Melo wouldn't do what Lebron did because he COULDN'T. He wouldn't even get 1/3 of the viewers Lebron got if he made his own "Decision" show. Not many people would give a **** other than hardcore basketball fans.

This is ********. Lebron was a free agent and he had the choice to go anywhere he wanted to. Blake Griffin even said the other week that there's no big deal in someone deciding where they want to play when they have the opportunity to be a free agent.

But yet here's Carmelo who ISNT a free agent and he's demanding a trade to a specific team... the new york knicks. At first, melo wanted out of denver, so they tried to ship him to New Jersey. The nets suck so now melo is demanding he gets traded to new york and just new york. If lebron is a prick for leaving when he had the choice, carmelo is twice what lebron is.

Who cares if Lebron and Carmelo aren't friends? Both are young, spoiled, rich athletes playing a children's game for their profession. So they got that going for them, which is nice.
