Rudy Fernandez is happy in Portland and has withdrawn his early-season trade demand, according to a report in the Oregonian.

"I want to be here. I'm having fun. I bought a home. I bought a car. I don't know what else I can do to prove I want to be here," Fernandez said.

"I'm playing now, too."

Fernandez has become very good friends with teammate Patty Mills, but he's also aware that a trade is still possible.

"If I get traded now," he said, "it's out of my hands."

I think it would be hilarious if Portland just went out and traded him right now. But I'm glad he's getting minutes. He is a very solid SG who was being overshadowed by Roy.

Thats what i said, he may be using inverse psycology.

Roy is out for the season, so the blazers aren't slowing the offense down to go through him. Rudy is getting 25+ minutes a game and the blazers (by running the ball down the court more) are playing more into the style of rudy's game...so, of course he is much more happy now.

I always had the idea he disliked roy quite a bit, and now that roy is out for a long while he's feeling comfortable...

still I think he'll be traded eventually, I wouldn't risk letting him walk for nothing.

Rudy's highly overrated, they should still trade him

With Roy out, that`s his chance to become a solid role player ... lucky

cause whenever he gets traded or signs in fa somwhere to play 35 mpg and get 12 shots per game he will start putting up 15 ppg 5 apg.

not really if he is allowed to dirve in more and take more jumpers, instead of beign used mainly as a 3p shooter, you know no one shoots better form 3p line than from inside.

Check his fg % this year, take out the number of 3p attempts and you will see he is actually shooting well at 2p attempts.

Sucks that Roy had to be out in order for the world to see how good Rudy was

I think Portland didnt cave in and trade him or free him to sign in europe this summer because they knew how bad was the state form Roys knees.
They also signed matthews for the same reason.

What i dont get is why they ddint try to trade roy for other asset.

I'm not a believer in him. He's just not that good.

Even players limited to a small role can thrive in a stagnant offense like Dorrell Wright did with the Heat. Rudy's not making the best of the small role given to him.

he is been playing fine the last few weeks since his role was expanded.

he has had some off nights too like yesterday.

His averages are going up, before roy was injured he was doing a crappy 6ppg 2 apg on 28% shooting and he is putin it up to 10/ 4 on nearly 48%( last span of games).

If he gets more confident on his role and starts getting his mojo back he may very wll end up with 12 ppg 5 apg 2 reb 1,5 steals in 28 mpg wich is very reasonable for a 6th man.

The fact that he is helthy now ( something he never acomplished last season) is helping him to get back his best shape , ( he was horrible last year and on the world cup with spain because his back had not fully helaed after Arizas agression).

The thing is he eventually will need to be traded somwhere else to go on growing and reach his real ceilling.

UNLESS, Roy is traded for another player who is not a SG ( mathws can play sf too, actually they mix very good on the court with rudy playing sg and mathews palying sf)

checked his 2 points shots also, he's horrible this season

I could see Rudy being a top option on a bad team putting up great numbers. On a winning team, I wouldn't want him to be anything more then a 6th man. I hope he proves me wrong one day. I like the guy.

How is he going to get 5 APG? He wouldn't even get it if he played 48 MPG. All he can do is selfishly chuck shots.

My roommate and I were talking about this earlier today, actually. He likened Rudy to Toni Kukoc in the aspect that he could probably have/had started on numerous other teams, but there was/is always someone getting in the way. Kukoc had Pippen, Rudy has Roy, Matthews and Batum.

In a way....... but rudy is nothing close to Kukoc a top 5 European Player ever.

No order( Petrovic, Kukoc, Sabonis, Pau, Dirk)
