View Full Version : WTF is wrong with Brook Lopez's rebounding?

How did he go DOWN in rebounding as the years went by? Is it because Kris Humphries is hogging all the rebounds now? Seriously, he is messing up my fantasy teams.

There's nothing wrong, he just can't rebound

idk. maybe he just sucks at rebounding.

He is soft, but he also takes alot of midrange shots so he's not in the paint when someone misses on the offensive end. Plus Humph is a boss on the defensive glass.

Brook has never been a good rebounder. He doesn't work for position, he doesn't keep guys pinned, he isn't aggressive going after the ball, he is disinterested in offensive rebounding, out of position many times, etc.

He is a very skilled player, but just not a good rebounder. I doubt he ever averages 10 a night

Charlie Villanueva 2.0 - Actually I'd rather have Charlie because he can shoot the three.

We know you're a Detroit fan, but COME ON. How could anyone take Villanueva over Brook Lopez?

it just amazes me that a guy who is seven foot can be so bad at rebounding

He needs to hold his position and go after the ball more. Offensively he is starting to take over as expected

Back to the basket big man with no interest in rebounding + horrible D + tons of potential if they could fix the holes in their games......Brook has a better jumper and is the better passer but seems unmotivated to me ala Eddy Curry

If you want a logical comparison I would say Rik Smits.

With Lopez it's a combination of factors which lead to his diminished rebounding numbers. The most glaring issue is that Brook doesn't know how to box-out, he also isn't aggressive, he doesn't seem to have a nose for the ball, he's lost some strength from his bout with mono and he's playing next to a rebounding-hog, Kris Humphries, who tends to snatch rebounds out of Lopez's hands.

Rik Smits seems like a good comparison to me ....... finesse big man with a nice scoring touch but weak rebounders

All he cares about is his offense. And he wonders why Avery can't stand his ***.

He just doesn't have great rebounding instincts. Thats just the way some guys are.

Its pretty tough trying to explaining it, just like it is to say why Carlos Boozer gets a load of rebounds when he is barely 6'8.

I'm sure it doesn't help when your coach calls you out through the media though.

Since he is relied upon as the main offensive threat, and thus can't get into foul trouble, his aggressiveness on the boards is lackluster. If NJ lands Melo or another scorer to complement Brook, I'd bet his rebound numbers go up.

overated. i dont understand why people voted him in the top 5 of PSDs best centers last season. just because his stats are good. ofcourse he would have inflated stats. who elso would score in the 12-70 nets? and even with a chance to inflate stats he still cant get 10 rebounds per game.

bargnani 2.0

hell zbo is even better than him but most people consider him better.

Simply just gave up honestly.
Last year he had Yi by his side the worst 2 team duo in the NBA. Both are terrible rebounds and Brook playing 40 minutes only got 8 rebounds. This year he only cares about scoring.

Question:

in a game of 21 between Andrea Bargnani and Brook Lopez, who wins?

Answer:

nobody. after the first miss they both just stand there staring at the ball.

You have to want to rebound, I've watched only a few Nets games to see what they hype about Favors is. However when watching the game Lopez just fades into the crowd and into obscurity. He's much more interested in scoring and playing offense than defending anyone and grabbing a board.

Raptors fans dont get away with that excuse when it comes to Bargnani playing alongside Reggie Evans so you don't get to use it either.

lmao at the comparisons on the first page of this thread.

Brook isn't a good rebounder, he likes to shoot the jumper and make slashing-type plays.

I can almost compare it to when Rose had very little assists per game. Its was an overall disinterest of him for his game, much like Brook and rebounding

lol i didnt want to comment on this but some of you guys are just complete idiots...some of you make valid points and make sense but people sayinf Eddy Curry and Charlie Villanueva smh... Brook Lopez shoots mostly mid range jumpshots so he's not often in position to get offensive rebounds. He is fairly weak and soft so he tends to get pushed around in the paint while going for boards. Idk if its his bout with mono or w/e but thats my opinion. The Rik Smits comparison was right on...
