The New York Knicks will trade Anthony Randolph for a first-round draft pick within the next two weeks, according to league sources.

Minnesota, Indiana and Portland are among the likeliest destinations.

The Knicks' ideal scenario is to use the first-round pick they acquire for Randolph in a package for Denver's Carmelo Anthony. But the Randolph trade is not completely related to New York's pursuit of Anthony.

While the Nuggets and New Jersey Nets continue to discuss a possible three-team trade with the Detroit Pistons that would make Anthony a Net, the Knicks are seeking teams that might help them sweeten a potential offer to Denver.

The Knicks reached out to Memphis recently to discuss sending O.J. Mayo to Denver, but the Nuggets have made it known that they have no interest in Mayo.

Sources with knowledge of the Nuggets and Nets discussions said the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement in principle, and that talks are likely to drag out over the next week or so.

Anthony's willingness to go to New Jersey is a key holdup of the potential trade, as the All-Star forward has not agreed to sign the three-year, $65 million extension that is a prerequisite for the deal.

Even as the tension surrounding the Nuggets grows, sources maintain that Anthony is in no hurry and that he has not ruled out playing the entire season in Denver and signing with the Knicks as a free agent.

The problem with that scenario -- and one of the main reasons Anthony has not shut the door on New Jersey completely -- is that the upcoming collective bargaining agreement could force Anthony to settle for millions of dollars less. Also, the Knicks may not have enough room to offer Anthony a max deal (whatever that may look like under the new rules) unless they renounce Wilson Chandler.

Who gets Randolph though? Indy and Portland should be in the playoffs and thus the pick would be out of the lottery, but Minnesota would probably want to give up the Memphis or Utah pick rather than their own.

Could be for Melo but I think it's more for flexabilty and options coming this off-season unless of course we can manage to get Melo before the deadline. I really think that we have to work out a deal much like the Nets did and get a third team invloved with champioship asperations and get two picks. We all know the Lakers are out of the question because they already traded their pick but maybe the Spurs, Dallas, Bulls or Magic are looking for a player like Bill Walker or somebody else from the trade partners that could Net us a first rounder! Even if it cost us a second rounder I think we can come out with 2 picks in the AR deal! I men the Nets got two first rounders for potential no reason I can't see the Knicks doing the same for a player with more potential then T.Williams. Def a lower IQ but just a little bit more raw talent and a much bigger commodity in a league that is short on big men!

We got the Lakers first cuz we took Vujacic off their hands and saved them around 9 million.

Anthony Randolph is rumored to be traded within the next two weeks for a first round pick.

Thoughts at where he could go and how he would fit?

I think he fits well with the Thunder.

This is because he is thick headed. Honestly you can point to him and say this is an example of college not helping a player anymore than high school could. All you hear is potential, but that means jack ******* if a guy is willing to put in the work and listen to the coaches/captains no matter what level of ball they have played pre-NBA.

No team should give up anything outside of a low projected 1st rounder for him.

- Memphis (do him for Thabeet as both are a waste)

the guy has some potential, don't think the knicks want Thabeet, they already have a very raw center in Mozgov. No PT to develop them both.

I think they hope they can get something more out of him than Thabeet. But that's just my opinion.

And a first round pick once AR is traded, if we're getting technical. Still better than other S&T's.

Might as well. He has tons of talent but no bbiq. He doesn't have a define role and doesn't know what he does well in. He is still young though so it may take time for him to develop. He is only 21

I think you'd be pissed too if you had the talent Randolph has and Timofey ****ing Mozgov was getting your minutes. Randolph is going to flourish wherever he goes.

Mozgov has played in 26 games; Randolph has played in 14. Instead of giving that PT to Mozgov, D'Antoni should have used some common sense and played AR, a player who has more talent in his fingernail than Mozgov has in his entire body. D'Antoni is just a stubborn ***.

I think this guy will be labeled with the permanent potential tag his whole career, at best I see him as a Charlie Villanueva.

I'd rather not trade him if we don't already have a plan of what to do with the pick we get back. IMO he's better than anyone you're gonna get in the mid-late first round in this weak draft. I'd rather get someone's 2012 pick since we traded ours already.

Knicks should have done Lee for Ellis
Turiaf is the only guy that is playing and he is a hustle guy, David Lee is much better.

The Knicks took Anthony Randolph over Ellis.

Felton/Douglas
Ellis/Fields
Gallo/Walker
Chandler/Williams
Amare/Mosgov

Thats much better than what the Knicks currently have.

basically. The Knicks obviously have no intent on playing him, and are already without a pick. The Wolves could give you Utah's, since their's cant be traded, and Memphis's is up in the air as far as when they will give the Wolves the pick.

Ellis would be far more money and could have seriously hampered NY's pursuit of another superstar (the superstar being Amare) like Melo or Paul. At the time, Randolph was a steal for a S&T. Golden State could have gotten much more for him this summer when he was coming off injury vs. coming from a long bnching.
