I don't agree with Atlanta/Orlando being a very good matchup. Even though Atlanta currently has a better record, they showed last year that they have no answer whatsoever for Dwight and I think that matchup heavily favors the new-look Magic. I think the Knicks/Bulls matchup would be great though.

Heat/Bucks anyone? That OT game last week was pretty thrilling. And Milwaukee has the size in Bogut/Brockman/Sanders/Gooden to possible steal a game or two.

-Bulls vs Hawks would be pretty cool at 4 vs 5.
-Bulls vs Knicks at 4 vs 5.
-Knicks vs Celtics would be nice as well at 3 vs 6.
- Thunder vs Jazz at 3 vs 6 or 4 vs 5.
- Jazz vs Hornets at 4 vs 5.

I would love it because of the fact Lakers would basically spend 2 weeks at home and Blake is fun to watch. Double win :)

Bucks vs. Heat

Also... if somehow Atlanta finishes 3rd, then say we get Chicago vs. Orlando... that'd be sick, but unlikely.

Heat would sweep the bucks

I mean I wouldn't put it past Miami to do that, I just think the Bucks (or any eastern team) could get a win at home against Miami. Cleveland did lose to Chicago in Chicago last year.

If it was Heat/Bucks, I'd pick the Heat in 5.

Of course they would. No one has a chance against the Heat. Scott Skiles isn't chill enough to outcoach the Heat.

i think it will be a little more competitive then last year. ATL has beaten ORl twice this year already. New coach new attitude..Not saying they will win but with the new look Magic it is not necessary to Single Team Dwight anymore because they have lost some of their shooters who strech the D out. Inserting Jason Collins (Although he is a lummox) into the starting lineup against Bigger teams like the Magic will also help. With the stellar play of J-Smoove, Horford, and Crawford the Hawks should be a formidable opponent for the upper echelon of the East. Once again, not sayign they will win but the series wouldnt be a complete abomination like the last 2 years.

I agree with all of this. The Hawks matchup better with the new-look Magic than before, and Horford & Joe have played much better this season.

the bucks ae the single most boring team to play against in the league. just absolutely dreadful entertainment. they are just scrappy enough to stay in the game but bad enough to do it in a boring way.

Ever since Detroit went to this starting lineup, they have been winning

PG - T-Mac
SG - Rodney Stuckey
SF - Tayshaun Prince
PF - Chris Wilcox
C - Greg Monroe

Hamilton has been benched for the last 4 games (4 DNP's). Detroit is two games back of the last playoff spot.

I don't think anything could beat the Clips/Lakers. Griffin vs. Kobe. It's a no brainer.

But unless the Clippers make a miraculous turnaround, it ain't gonna happen.

Only quoting my own post to qualify my point....

I think the Lakers would win in 5 or 6. I don't think it would be the most competitive series. But that wasn't the thread title question.

1st round is the best time to be a basketball fan. It is like opening weekend of March Madness.

The best time to be a basketball fan is the playoffs, for sure, but in my humble opinion it would be ideal if they reduced the number of eligible teams and dropped a round of the playoffs altogether. That would make the 80+ games played during the regular more meaningful, because teams would then know that they have to elevate their play each and every game.

More importantly, it would move us one round closer to the denouement, which is to find out who the champion is. That's all that matters to me.

I know, I know, there are occasionally surprises in that first round. But usually in a 7 game series the best team wins. Further, it's been ages since an 8th seed team won a championship. In fact I'm racking my brain trying to think of the team that did it last. Anyone know?
