View Full Version : NBA Players Representing Professional Wrestlers

01-13-2011, 08:14 PM
When it comes to the NBA, we always say how there is so much drama, and that everything is staged like the WWE etc., and how everything is "fixed" etc. etc.

Well, I wanted to take this NBA-WWE connection to a different direction.

For those who've seen professional wrestling (the fake wrestling) with WWF/WWE, WCW, ECW, and TNA, which basketball players represent which past or current wrestling superstars?

Like I would say:

LeBron James = Hollywood Hulk Hogan. The physique, the arrogance and cockiness, Hogan turned his back on WCW to form the nWO, like LeBron "turned his back on the Cavs" to join the Heat. In a split second, both guys when from beloved heroes to vilified villains. Both are big names in their respective industries and both are highly highly dominant in their respective industries.

Kobe "the BlackMamba" Bryant = Bret "the Hitman" Hart. The excellence of execution, both are cerebral assassins, both are great technical athletes who have great mechanics (Kobe with his shooting form, and the Hitman with his wrestling maneuvers). Kobe is a 5-time NBA Champ, Bret is a 5-time WWF/E Champ.

David Stern = Vince McMahon. Nuff said.

So how would you make the comparisons or connections etc?

We've never had a thread like this, PSD becomes so redundant and boring sometimes, so I thought it'd be interesting to have a thread like this. ;)

Hulk Hogan sucks.

Why not someone cooler for Lebron?

Like a Dave Batista or something.

Batista was a roided up freak that contibuted nothing to wrestling... Hogan wasent much of a wrestler but there was no denying he made wrestling huge... Kind of like Lebrons doing with the NBA love him or hate him

I'm liking the Tim Duncan-Undertaker comparison lol mainly cause growing up I was a huge undertaker fan growing up and a spurs fan...

That being said, i know he's not a player but is it fair to say :

stan van gundy = paul bearer?

also if i had to add more (off looks rather than personalities) i'd say:

dirk nowitzki = alex wright (google him if you dont know him)
Big Z = Kane (current kane not old school)
Shane Battier = Maven
Adam Morrison = Bradshaw

personalities, everyone has already said really:

Kobe = Stone Cold
Stern = Vince McMahon
Steve Nash = Bret Hart (consistently effective, more times than not a fan favorite)
Shaq = The Rock (I say this cause he's played the role of the villain and fan favorite, he's funny makes jokes about other players and has championships)

And as far as the "heatles" or whatever they call themselves, i think this video says it all...

01-13-2011, 10:29 PM
Dennis Rodman = Dennis Rodman
Karl Malone = Karl Malone

That is all.

01-13-2011, 10:51 PM
LeBron James = The Rock.

Kobe Bryant = Tripple H.

Nah it's

Kobe=the rock/stone cold/ultimate warrior(simply the best)
Lebron=stone cold/ triple h
Shaq=Andre the giant
Yao Ming= undertaker(always injured)

Kobe is like the rock they both are the best in the biz...they take there time until it's time for the kill and when their ready for victory boom the rock bottom or people's elbow=kobes buzzer beaters!

Or maybe I put Kobe=the rock
Cuz those r the two guys I grew up idolizing... Man do I miss the rock wrestling lol I haven't watched since he left

Kobes a Killer
01-13-2011, 10:55 PM
Wrestling=stinkiest pile of crap to ever be put on tv, how is it the most viewed?? More viewers than all sports combined??? Like wt, all I can do is shake my head at that nonsense

Kobes a Killer
01-13-2011, 10:57 PM
Ya the rock was dope, only good thing about wrestling ever

01-13-2011, 11:00 PM
Derrick Rose = Mr. Perfect

01-13-2011, 11:00 PM
Brian Scalabrine = sheamus

01-13-2011, 11:47 PM
Kobe Bryant = Randy Orton: calculating, cold blooded killers who will do anything and everything to get the title. Like Randy, Bryant is one of the faces of their respective brands. Both are agile, athletic, and talented. Neither rely on strength or brute force win but use their cunning and their amazing skills to win multiple titles/rings...

Lebron James = John Cena: Both are physical specimen that have everything that it takes to succeed. Both are loved as much as they are hated. Both try really hard endear themselves to the fans without realizing that universal popularity is impossible. Both will win multiple titles that they do not deserve. Cena cuz he's overrated and Lebron cuz he took the easy road...

Kevin Durant = John Morrison: Both are highly talented and athletic. Both are the shoved down our throats and made to seem like they are the ultimate goody two shoes that can never do no wrong. Neither will reach the next level till they develop a little bit of aggression.

Dwane Wade= Shawn Micheals: The poster boy for greatness, charisma and business savvy. Shawn Micheals was always a quiet winner. He won titles and no one really hyped it up. Wade won in 06 and we barely heard the noise outside of Miami. The ladies love them and the guys can't find good enough reasons to hate them unlike the case with Lebron/Cena who people are divided on.

Bella Twins could probably whoop the Lopez twins butts in a fight. That's how soft Brook and Robin are.

Dwight Howard = Big Show: both are intimidating yet havent won ****!

01-13-2011, 11:52 PM
That's fine, just give your reasoning of why you would equate the two

The Worm = Goldust... I'm sure I really don't need to esplain why.. :D

Totally agree with the Kobe = Brett Hart angle though.. Nice call..
