Less refs and techs and more physical play and animosity on the court. The NBA needs to look at the recent struggles of the WWE. They went PG and started catering to the children and now their ratings are in the toilet. Similarly the NBA has tried to clean up their image by penalizing players when they get too physical. They need to let it go and realize that nobody wants to watch rated PG television. Drama sells. Thats why reality tv is such a money maker. I say next time KG decides to run his mouth and gets cocky out there... Let Dwight lay his *** down and I guarantee NBA ratings spike! Let Artest have his way with miss Lebron without touch foul calls and I guarantee Lebron will learn humility. Let the NBA go back to the old physical days

This would be good. Akin to baseball's farm system or European football academies. Would probably lead to more players representing their home towns as well.

This, this, 1000x this. The NBA's stadium announcers are horrible. "Everybody clap your hands..clapclapclapclapclapclap" gets to me every single time I hear it. Let the noise come from the fans.

Not letting 16 teams into the playoffs. Pathetic. Of course though, more teams means more $$ and the better team will win anyways. But it means nothing to make the playoffs in basketball.

For instance, making the post season in baseball is an accomplishment.

I would honestly like to see the charging foul call altered a little bit. It drives me nuts that a player will be driving to the basket and some d-bag will come from the three point line and step in front of him, causing a offensive foul.

Im not sure how you could alter it or change but Im sure there's a way. It's like punishing a guy for driving to the basket. I just think it gets a little outta hand sometimes. JMO

lol i didnt literally mean give a card. i meant the concept. in soccer u dive u get a yellow. if u dive in the box its an auto ejection. so the nba can kind of enforce that in another way. like in the playoffs maybe.. if u flop and its obvious u get ejected. (after view of replay obviously)

Exterminate star system. wich woudl mean
No more First option takes 50% of the shots
No more You cant breath on a "star" withouth being called a foul
No more Highlight reels on B.S.PN showcasing just one ( or at best two) players in each team.
No more "player x" won the ring hype by media and fans but TEAM X won the ring.
No more " player x" demads a trade but since its a star fan ssay " his team bailed in him he is right to want out while " Role player Y" who knows could start somwhere else and make better numbers says He wants out and Fans go on him like if he was charlie manson or something.

No more Looking at players passports to aknowledge if they are good or not, basicaly no more player d, g j and f having to work twices as hard to earn half the minutes and a twelft of recognition by fans because of their passports not featuring some eagle.

Thats not bad but whats in it for the team who finished last in this tourney?
Obviously they would be the worst of those teams.

The concept is good but how do you makeit work? If the winning team gets the top pick then those teams that really suck will never get better. If the last place team gets the top pick then every team in the tourney will be throwing the games away.

I like the idea of a non-playoff tourney but deciding lottery places would be hard to do.

Do away with zone defense. Bring back hand checking. Blatant flops assessed a technical foul. A foul system keeping exact count of how many personal fouls and techs each referee has called. After a certain amount has been reached, the ref is automatically under review before being allowed to ref another game.

1A. Star players getting treated differently than an average smoe. Michael Jordan, Kobe, Magic Johnson were all great players, but players that got 99% of all the calls in close games with 2 minutes to go.

1B. Traveling and the lack of times it gets called and whom it gets called on, its a joke.

3. Hard salary cap, teams like the Heat, Lakers, find ways around it.

4. Season is disgutstingly too long and it would be nice that the playoffs would be done before the 4th of July.

5. Don't like the lottery, I think its rigged!

12-28-2010, 09:19 PM
The NIT style tournament for draft picks idea is decent, but I think there are a couple of problems that prevent it from being a realistic option:
1. It really wouldn't make very much money because I don't think many teams would have fans that would spend money to go to games to see draft selection seeding (perhaps some would for the final game for the first overall pick, but it would be a bunch of fairly empty stadiums); and
2. The players would never go for these extra games with only draft picks as a benefit and with no "playoff pool" (even though that money pales in comparison to their contracts, there is pride in the playoffs).

Also, I agree totally with all of the suggestions to reduce the piped in noise during games. I was recently visitin Dallas and took in a game and was shocked. The stadium is great and it was full, yet the only noise was the announcer. I don't think it was a bad crowd either, I just think that the announcer was so loud the fans felt it was not necessary to be cheering.

I love to find a way to make the playoffs 6 teams league instead of 8. There are to many bad teams getting in and I think top 6 do deserve it. Making it 4 would elimate to many teams from being in playoff hunt. 6 will still have teams over .500 in the hunt but elimate a team under .500 from getting in. You have to have byes in the first round and make the first round a quick first round less the a week to see who moves on which would be best of 5. 2 straight games off day then 2 more off day then game 5 if nesessary. which would get motive to teams to get the top seed as the bye would mean they be rested up while other teams facing them will be tired from the last series. The rest of playoffs be 7 games. Making first round shorter will be good as the finals will be over hopefully by middle of June.

Definitely the refs and one sided officiating, its so obvious its not even funny. The refs are there to make sure the game runs fairly. IMO it'd be better than it currently is if we let players call their own.
No more refss giving out T's because they made terrible calls.
Touch fouls = superstar calls, and I agree with you here.
Traveling rule is you're not allowed to change your pivot foot not 2 steps. Traveling should be allowed if someone puts on a spectacular move (after all, the crowd pays money for entertainment, not to see old ego maniacs blow a whistle)
