View Full Version : Up until today, who are your top 5 teams in the NBA?

DoJoTheSlasher

As of how teams are playing today, who are your top 5 teams in the league right now?

1. Boston: They are the best in the East and have been the best team so far. Rondo has been out for a while but Garnett is playing All Star basketball and Pierce and Allen are beasting it up.

2. Dallas: So far, them and San Antonio have been the best in the West but Dallas has beaten San Antonio, Miami (2), Utah (2), Boston, and OKC with SA, MIA, UTA and OKC on the road.

3. San Antonio: Best record in the West (barely) but they are still elite up to this day. Ginobili is playing MVP basketball and Duncan still has it. Dallas/San Antonio game coming up will be game of the year so far.

4. Los Angeles: Team wise, they are the best and still have the best chance to win it all but so far they have been sluggish. Once the playoffs hit, they will be the most likely team to win the West but Dallas and SA have a legit chance of winning that position as well.

5. Miami: They have been better than I have thought over the last month but they are still not an "elite" team. Bron and Wade have both been great as of late but they still need to prove themselves against the top teams. They are playing now against the Lakers and if they win, they may get more positive talk about them.

I would have considered the Mavs, but to me they are an 'you gotta show me in the playoffs' team at this point.

By the end of the season I think it will look like this though:

1. Celtics
2. Mavs
3. Magic
4. Thunder
5. Spurs

A lot of teams are going to get stronger as the season goes on.

How anyone can put the Magic in the top 5 is beyond me. They haven't looked great up to this point. They will get a hell of a lot better and will be top 5 by the end of the year but up until now.. I don't think they sniff the top 5.

Well, Magic have the best rebounding and defensive Center in the league. And has added a little something to his offensive game.

They also got rid of the player that guarantees you won't win the big game. Vince Carter.

If Magic can actually get Arenas to buy into the team concept, Magic are a contender.

2. Celtics/Mavs(Both teams consistant and get it done. Would probably give the Celtics the edge because they are getting a lot done without Rondo)
3. Celtics/Mavs(See #2)
4. Lakers/Heat(Destryoing teams but are inconsistant at times. Would probably give the Heat the edge because they have been hotter as of late)

Lakers should not be in anybodys top 5 list... Seriously I've had it the people pay lots of money to watch good product show up but yet they see crap... This lakers team is disappointing they have the most talent they just don't play like they are motivated idk maby their age is showing or maby they don't wanna peek too early but right now the lakers are not a top 5 team!

Hopefully that's the case... But it really sucks watching the lakers lose when they really should win I mean lose to the bucks in a blow out? The heat I mean yes they r good but no way we should have lost by more then 5 points to them! We suck right now and bad!

1. Boston - racking up wins with several injured players. J.O.; Perk; Rondo
2. Spurs - they have really impressed me, solid as always.
3. Mavs - the addition of Chandler has seemingly worked for so far. Still a bit skeptic that they will show up for the POs.
4. Miami - figured it out and are now rolling. Small bench is a worrying factor.
5. Lakers - defending two time NBA champs have looked ordinary and havent convienced me.

Negative surprises:

Miami has mostly beaten crappy teams in their last 16-18 games, they've also beaten a few really good ones too. I still don't think they make it past Boston this year. The Lakers are a joke right now honestly and it's pissing me right off, all laker fans try and play it down but yall are just being stubborn, THE ONLY TEAM WE BEAT ABOVE .500 WAS CHICAGO!!! WTF step your shiiiit up you bums. Haha what does that say about Chicago though... Come on boys everyones beating us nowadays

Popovich was right- Spurs are not as good as their record and the basketball gods have been very good to them. It amazes me that some people do not have the Magic in their top five. The annihilation of the Spurs and defeat of the Celtics are just the start for that team.

So Orlando, with the fact they will 1. Gain chemistry as a team. 2. Get a big man back in Orton who has missed all season ( He is nothing special now just another big body). 3. Add another big man. So they do not break your top 5 teams in the league? IMO.. They will be the team to beat in the East in The playoff. The Heat will be exposed. It is one thing to go in a kill the current champions in one game. ( Cavs stomped the Heat last season in LA) However, it is totally different when you get another teams A+ effort and total focus. ( See Cavs last few seasons) I am not saying the Heat will not be good; however, anyone who is kidding themselves and think these guys will win the East this season will be very disappointed when it does not happen. The Heat will be one of the easier teams to game plan against in a 7 game series of any team East or West. I guess the only advantage you guys have, is the officials call more ticky tack fouls come postseason which will result in more free throw attempts having Lebron and D. Wade.

I still think after the Magic's trades they have passed the Heat and will eventually pass the Celtics as the best team in the East. ( Time to Gell as a team, get Orton back and trade for another big body.. Hasheem Thabeet anyone? It appears he will be in Orlando here sooner rather then later. 7-3 blocking/rebound machine playing with the Magic 2nd unit makes them the most balanced and deepest team in the NBA. ( Label him a bust, however, his role in Orlando will fit his game perfect.)

Orlando has no backup center right now. LeBron and Wade attacking the basket leaves a strong possibility for Howard to get in foul trouble. THEN WHAT? It forces them to play small ball, then Miami will feast on them because Orlando takes too many three's and they don't fall, Heat rebound, hopefully, then fast break with LeBron and Wade. You tell me who can stop that. BTW, defense wins in this league and Howard is the only their even pretty good defensively. When he's out, their defense is laughable which is why saying Orlando has passed Miami in the east is silly talk. Right now, the Magic have no shot against Miami, but that can change if they make they more moves to bolster their front court. Their bench is better than ours at least given that Mike Miller isn't in game shape and Haslem's out. Even then they have a better 2nd unit. I'll give you that one.
